Ahead of CES 2018 next week, Samsung has offered a glimpse of one of its offerings: a wall-mountable subwoofer incorporating what the company bills “distortion-cancelling tweeters.â€
Not only is the Samsung wall-mountable, it’s also considerably thinner than the manufacturer’s previous model. The NW700 Sound+ soundbar measures a little over two inches (53.5mm) wide and is 41% narrower than its predecessor, and is designed to sit right under a TV.
Despite its smaller form factor, Samsung says there’s no loss in sound quality thanks to a built-in subwoofer and distortion-cancelling tweeters to accompany to accompany the mid/bass drivers.
The soundbar offers three modes: Standard, Surround and Smart – all of which automatically adjust volume and surround sound effects based on what the viewer is watching.
It is expected the product will also offer WiFi streaming, a wireless connection to an appropriate Samsung TV and compatibility with Samsung’s Wireless Surround Kit, if the NW700 Sound+ it’s anything like its predecessor.
There’s no word on pricing or a possible release date for the NW700 as yet, however the soundbar is expected to line up next to Samsung’s latest range of QLED TV models at CES.
