PIEGA unveils Swiss Ace loudspeaker series

Swiss loudspeaker manufacturer, PIEGA has introduced the Ace series, an affordable loudspeaker featuring the company’s signature aluminium cabinets and AMT tweeters.

Using technology and acoustic development trickled down from the Master, Coax, and Premium models, the Ace series is building on the success of, and replacing, the Tmicro series.

The Ace series consists of three models: the Ace 50, the Ace 30, and the Ace Centre. The Ace 50 is a slim floorstanding loudspeaker which stands at one metre tall. The Ace 30 is a compact satellite loudspeaker, and the Ace Centre is a landscape format for cinema systems.

For aesthetic appeal, the cabinets are all 14cm wide and 16cm deep oval aluminium profile with no visible seams, angles, or fixings. The braced aluminium cabinets have been specially designed for the 120mm MDS mid/bass drivers common to all three models.

All three models also have the same HF unit, in the form of PIEGA’s tried and tested AMT-1 Air Motion Transformer. This light and large surface area ribbon tweeter is driven by a potent neodymium motor assembly to create a detailed and fluid upper frequency response.

The Ace 30 is a bookshelf speaker and is the smallest in the series, with its baffle measuring the same size as an A5 sheet of paper. Despite its small size, the 120mm MDS woofer and AMT-1 tweeter reproduce clear, balanced and powerful sound. It can be used with or without a subwoofer and is ideal for music listening in smaller rooms or as a discreet option for larger rooms.

The Ace 50 has the same profile width as the Ace 30 but significantly taller. The floorstanding loudspeaker incorporates three 120mm MDS woofers and the AMT-1 tweeter. This three-way design uses two of the MDS drivers for LF, with a single MDS driver dedicated to producing mid-range frequencies. This produces a powerful sound with a significantly lower LF extension and higher power handling than the Tmicro60 model which it is replacing. The Ace 50 is designed for medium to larger living areas.

The Ace Centre allows the new series to be used as a multi-channel home cinema system. The landscape format Ace Centre has two 120mm MDS woofers, AMT-1 tweeter and dedicated crossover to deliver clear speech intelligibility for TV and film. Its compact size allows it to be placed under or on a shelf around the TV. A wall mounting bracket is also available for the Ace Centre.

All three models in the Ace series carry a choice of three finishes: natural aluminium with grey fabric grille, anodised black with black grille, or high gloss white with white grille.

Available from next month, the Ace 50 is priced at £1,980 per pair, the Ace 30 is £980 per pair, and the Ace Centre is priced at £590 each.
