Monitor Audio has unveiled it’s new Gold Series 6G, completely redesigned and consisting of six new loudspeaker models.
Designed to be comprehensive, highly flexible and user-friendly, the Gold Series 6G range features new innovations which builds on over three decades of Monitor Audio heritage.
A new metal cone technology has been added in the form of Hexagonal Diaphragm Technology (HDT), drawing on the RDT II cones utilised in the Hyphn and the flagship Platinum Series 3G, which consists of a Nomex honeycomb layer sandwiched between aluminium and carbon fibre skins. The HDT cone has a new hexagonal pattern to disrupt symmetries in the cone breakup, creating a cone that shifts the frequency up by 10% compared to the RST II cones found on the Silver Series 7G.
The new cone also utilises Monitor Audio’s proprietary C-CAM technology, which produces a stronger, more fatigue-resistant cone when compared to standard aluminium designs, according to the company.
The new HDT C-CAM cones have been used across the range, including a new 3-in mid-frequency driver, a 6-in bass-mid unit, and 6-in and 8-in bass drivers.
Another key acoustic feature is a revised version of Monitor Audio’s MPD III (Micro Pleated Diaphragm) transducer, which is used in both Hyphn and the Platinum Series. This bespoke design delivers precise high-frequency sound with greater consistency, clarity and accuracy. The levels of detail achieved makes music sound more lifelike, crisp and real.
The new Gold Series 6G’s crossovers have also been optimised for in-room performance, which is particularly important for the On-Wall 6G model, where typical usage is closer to custom install than traditional hi-fi.
The cabinets are designed to form the most rigid structure possible to allow the drivers to perform to their optimum capabilities. The 100 and 500 models feature a top trim detail to allow the MPD III high-frequency transducer to be placed further up the cabinet, optimising the cabinet edge diffraction on these larger speakers. This helps deliver consistent and precise imaging across the entire frequency range.
For the first time, the Gold Series 6G features a man-made ebony veneer, portraying the quality and lustre of real ebony but with a significant reduction to carbon impact compared to traditional methods of real-wood veneered production.
The new Gold Series 6G feature high-gloss black and satin white finishes for a luxury aesthetic to fit in with any décor.
The six new models available are the flagship Gold 500 6G (£5,500 / €6,500 / $7,000), the Gold 300 6G (£4,000 / €4,750 / $5,250), the Gold 100 6G stand-mount speaker (£3,000 / €3,500 / $4,000), the Gold 50 6G bookshelf speaker (£1,700 / €2,000 / $2,250), the Gold On-Wall 6G (£1,000 / €1,250 / $1,350), and the Gold C250 6G centre-channel speaker (£1,700 / €2,000 / $2,250). The series is available now.
