HD Connectivity Finds More UK Custom Installers Are Thinking About HDMI Networks, Not Matrices (1/11/2013)
Fresh from winning a ‘CE Pro Best Award’ at the this year’s CEDIA Expo, US company, Just Add Power’s ‘2G’ HDMI over IP-based (distributed in the UK by HD Connectivity) HDMI distribution solution is going from strength to strength in the UK CI sector.
Unencumbered by the fixed input /output (I/O) constraints of traditional HDMI Matrices, HD/IP instead creates a network of HDMI devices, scalable to any size, up to 4,000 x 65,000 (with enough stacked switches).
Popular in the commercial install world due to it’s virtually limitless scale for HDMI distribution and on-board video wall capability, Just Add Power (JAP) finds itself as the go-to solution for sports bars, arenas, airports and conference centres throughout the States. It is rarely beaten on cost-effectiveness when compared to the large-scale 16x16+ matrices available.
HD Connectivity report a sharp increase in UK custom installers switching to (and now with) the Ethernet network based HD video distribution system for large-scale residential installations.
Daniel Adams, HDC’s Technical Director believes that “JAP has come a long way since we first introduced it to the UK in 2010. It’s flexibility and scalability, coupled with free-issued instant-switching (& we mean instant) control system drivers is appealing to some of the most well-respected install firms in the UK”.
The latest software revision has brought refinements to the 2G proprietary video processing platform and the ability for installers to add their own logo jpegs to system boot screens. New hardware updates include a PoE Transmitter so you can power the entire system from a single PoE Managed Switch.
Free system demo kits are available on loan from HDC should you be inclined to trial the solution prior to install.
