Russound Announces New XStream Decentralized Wired/Wireless WiFi-Enabled Networked Audio System (17/9/2013)
CEDIA Expo 2013
Whole-house audio market innovator, Russound, today announced that 2013 will be the year that XStream changes the face of the whole-house audio industry.
When engineering Xstream™, the Russound team created a truly unique solution for installers and set the bar high for competitors to follow. Keeping true to Russound’s Audio Everywhere focus, XStream heralds a new generation of decentralized audio systems designed for flexibility, integration and performance.
Russound’s Xstream integrates both wired and wireless systems to offer maximum installation flexibility – and profit opportunities; more than any currently available competitive product. The company will soon announce a plethora of the most popular on-board streaming services.
“Custom pros are always asking for wireless solutions that do more than skim the surface of what is possible in a modern whole-house audio system,” said Charlie Porritt, CEO of Russound. “Xstream is a true whole house system, and our dealers will find that it’s a seamless fit with nearly any project, no matter if it calls for a wired or wireless audio solution.” XStream will seamlessly connect with an existing home network, without the additional expense of gateways or proprietary network devices. Up to 16 sixteen X5 zones can be installed with the number of content streams limited only by the home network’s bandwidth.
All connectivity is supported by following WiFi standards that are designed for optimization of high-speed data transmissions.
The XStream system will include a wide array of installer-centric features, including the option for locally wired keypads (Russound’s MDK-C6, SLK-1 or TS3) that, typical of the company’s controls, are attractive and uniquely configured for each installation. Wireless control is just as easy, thanks to the X5’s compatibility with the My Russound App, which is available for iOS and Android tablets and smartphones.
XStream will feature third-party integration and control through Ethernet or WiFi thanks to RIO, Russound’s IP-based control protocol that offers easy integration with many popular home automation systems.
Added Porritt: “I will be spending ample time in front of our customers and the press illustrating how XStream is the next logical step in the whole-house audio market. From flexibility to reliability and performance, it’s impossible to beat this platform.”
Additional XStream updates will be available later this month.
