Proficient Audio Debuts New Line of Architectural Subwoofers (4/1/2013)

Stand 1N80, ISE 2013

Three New High Performance Subs Plus Mono Amp/Crossover

Proficient raises the bar with the release of three new architectural subwoofers. The new lineup includes a pair of in-wall subwoofers and an in-ceiling sub. They reflect the Proficient long-standing assurance to their installing dealers to deliver systems that have superb sound performance and exceptional build quality, along with value pricing.

Proficient’s Keith Marshall notes, “The Proficient IWS10 inwall subwoofer has been a staple for our dealers for many years, so we decided to expand the category. We’re quite confident that this new line will prove to be even more popular as it will give our dealers a much better opportunity to make even more profits.

Our new Architectural Subwoofer line brings a whole new level of performance for architectural subwoofers at an aggressive set of prices that makes it easy for our dealers to step their customers up the line or go to two subs in a room. This new approach will make it easier for our dealers to add profitably when selling new jobs.”

The IWS82 sits at the top of the new Proficient Architectural Subwoofer lineup. The dual 8” (20 cm) sub employs long-excursion graphite woofers with a power handling capacity of 200 watts. The system has a frequency response range of 30 to 120 Hz. For optimum performance, Proficient recommends coupling the IWS82 with the Proficient M3, which is a 180 Watt Mono Amp with Built-In Crossover. The IWS82 sub is easy to install in retrofit jobs and provides a great opportunity for high dealer profitability.

The new IWS100 in-wall subwoofer features an inverted motor design with ferrite magnet that drives the 10” (25.4 cm) long-excursion treated paper cone woofer. Frequency response is rated at 36 to 150Hz. The IWS100 is tuned to the optional BB-IWS10 MDF back box for use in new construction. To achieve maximum acoustic power output, Proficient recommends the M3 Amp/Crossover.

The final offering in the new Proficient architectural subwoofer lineup is an in-ceiling subwoofer, the ICS10. This sub uses a 10” (25.4 cm) long-excursion graphite cone with a ferrite magnet motor. Capable of handling up to 175 watts, the ICS10 has a frequency response of 30 to 120Hz.

With an installed depth of 6½” (16.5 cm), the ICS10 easily fits any ceiling cavity. As with the other Proficient architectural subwoofers, the ICS10 is best optimized when matched to the Proficient M3 Amp/Crossover.

The IWS100 ships in Q4 2012; the IWS82 and ICS10 deliver in Q1 2013.
