Power Ethernet Continues CEDIA Powerline Networking Training (30/11/2012)
After the success of the inaugural CEDIA Power Ethernet-led training workshop a further event will be held this December.
Due to the sell-out success of the CEDIA-accredited training workshop from Power Ethernet in November, the course is set to become a permanent fixture – with the next being held on 14th December. The workshop provides CEDIA members with the skills and knowledge required to confidently specify Powerline data networks and integrate them with AV and Home Automation systems.
The ever increasing adoption of TV services like YouView, Lovefilm and Sky's NOW TV all require a robust data network to provide high speed Internet access in every room within the home. Power Ethernet’s Powerline Networking Training Course explains how to deploy a whole home network without needing to run new network cabling or use unreliable wireless (WiFi) networks.
Feedback from the first event was overwhelmingly positive. Julian Jonker from Brixtar Electricians Ltd who attended the training said “I can strongly recommend the training to any electrician who wants to prepare for the future of home automation and networking.” Steve Kelly from SDK Electrical UK said "I now feel fully confident in supplying, informing and installing this product to future clients."
New CEDIA member Kris Hogg, MD of Konnectiv Technology said, "CEDIA's recognition of the value of Powerline to AV installers and their engaging with Power Ethernet to help CEDIA members get up to speed with the technology is a very smart move. Powerline may not be top of the list for AV and home automation installs but recent developments like Power Ethernet's integrated power and data socket have made it a very valuable tool. I've not come across a building that doesn't have electrical cabling and power points so Power Ethernet is my get-out-of-jail free card for installs where running new cabling is complicated or cost-prohibitive."
James Gardiner, Marketing Director at Power Ethernet said, “We’re excited to continue our work with CEDIA to help increase Powerline networking knowledge and skills within the CEDIA member base. We had such a positive response from the initial event that we wanted to ensure that all those who were intrusted in this technology are able to develop their knowledge and skills. CEDIA’s latest research shows a custom installation industry anticipating a 12% annual growth in turnover this year, and a total market size in excess of £1 billion by the end of 2012. Those with the knowledge and skills required for networking installations will be in high demand in 2013, and Powerline technology will quickly become a staple technology within the connected home.”
The course covers a range of applications including home theatre, multi-room audio distribution, digital signage, CCTV and home automation and enable installers to confidently integrate a Powerline network with other AV and home automation systems. It combines education, practical demonstrations, Q&A and testing.
The next training workshop will be on 14th December in Finchley Central, London. Installers can sign up at
