CEDIA Looks Forward to Expoloring 'The Future of Home Technology' (26/9/2012) CEDIA has confirmed a fantastic line-up of speakers for its inspirational London conference, “The Future of Home Technology” taking place on Tuesday 23rd and Wednesday 24th October 2012 at the Inmarsat Conference Centre. The conference will feature representatives from CISCO, OFCOM, Arup, CEDIA and the UK Government amongst other experts in the home technology arena. “Featuring keynote sessions from respected leaders in the technology world, alongside sessions from global CI specialists and educators, the conference will provide an insight into their perception and vision for the future of technology,” says Wendy Griffiths, CEDIA’s Executive Director. “This is a must attend event for all custom installers and integrators,” Lord Inglewood, Chairman of the House of Lords Select Committee on Communications, will update delegates on the UK’s journey to superfast broadband in a talk entitled, “Broadband for All”. A senior representative from the independent regulator and competition authority for the UK communications industries, OFCOM, will be talking about 4G, the key differences from 3G, what it might mean for homeowners and the impact on frequency bands used in UK. This presentation will also explore potential co-existence issues with other wireless services and technologies. Jim Read, Associate Director at engineering firm, Arup Communications who will be holding a session entitled “Are We Ready for the Integrated Home?” Other speakers include CEDIA’s own Senior Director of Technology, Dave Pedigo who will explore Emerging Technology Trends and in another conference highlight Duncan Maidens, Co-ordinator of Europe’s CISCO Academy will look at the future as an IP Connected Home. Meanwhile, renowned futurologist Dr James Bellini will be exploring “The Future Landscape of Home Entertainment”. Tom Kerber, Director of Home Systems market research and consulting firm, Parks Associates will be revealing the results of CEDIA’s recent market research project looking into the future prospects for the custom installation sector. In another session, Carl Hibbert of research organisation, Futuresource will be taking a look at consumer trends in second screen, connected TV and OTT devices. More names and topics are set to be announced in the coming weeks. In addition, delegates will be able to see and experience the latest products from the event sponsors in a special showcase area of the conference.
