Habitech Offers Sonance Landscape Audiophile-Quality Outdoor Speakers (4/7/2012) In anticipation of the weather improving, Habitech is promoting the Sonance Landscape Series of audiophile-quality outdoor speakers. From the company who pioneered the world’s first in-wall and in-ceiling speakers comes an outdoor system that delivers the same uncompromising performance combined with minimal visual impact. The Sonance Landscape Series uses strategically-placed satellite speakers that are hidden within garden beds or in amongst the foliage of trees. A subwoofer enclosure is then buried underground or within shrubs, with just an earth-coloured hood dispersing sound perfectly. It’s all about blending discreetly into the surroundings.
The result is a garden that immerses its guests in the highest-quality sound, always at the perfect volume, no matter where they are, or what they are doing. And because the system is camouflaged, the music simply comes from nowhere. With the ability to combine mounting locations at any height, Sonance Landscape Series blends sound seamlessly in the air, creating the ideal ambience and musical presence and delivering the perfect volume, everywhere, every time. The system is completely modular and can be designed for a small patio to a conference centre, from four to 150 speakers and subwoofers. The system can be designed into different zones so that the volume levels can be adjusted in different areas of the garden or outdoor space. As the system is located outside – and bearing in mind the unpredictable nature of weather in the UK – the Sonance Landscape Series is completely weatherproof, which means it can cope with snow, sea water, sub-zero temperatures and 40 degrees plus temperatures. Due to the multiple speakers located throughout the space, the sound distribution is very even throughout the whole garden, which enables the overall volume to be reduced and therefore minimise any interference with neighbours. Sonance offers a full design service free of charge to optimise the layout of speakers for the designated space. The system is based on 70V line technology which enables the speakers and subs to be wired in series. Practically, this enables a single cable to be run for each and every speaker greatly reducing installation time and cost. It also means that only one cable is buried underground rather than multiple cables, with each speaker being served by its own cable from the amplifier. If you have experienced poor quality with 100V line systems, do not compare the two. The low-cost systems are based on a speaker costing GB£12 within a minimal current tap. Obviously these low cost systems are built for cheap background music in large venues. The right material for a speaker is as important as the design itself. The Sonance Landscape Series satellites, in 4-inch and 6-inch versions, are constructed of a high-quality PVC composite molded with UV-stable colour for durability, and a powder-coated steel mesh to protect vital speaker parts. The LS10SUB features a textured coating around the subwoofer enclosure and a ‘Hammertone’ powder coated finish on the canopy for strength and camouflage. Durable and lightweight materials, triple-sealed enclosures and waterproof connectors, combined with marine-grade components allow Sonance Landscape Series speakers to stand up to the harshest surf, sun, sand, snow and salt. It is this durability that will lead to years of worry-free outdoor entertainment.
