NeuroSky Appoints Titan as European Distributor for its MindSet and ThinkGear Brain-Computer Interface Technology (19/3/2010) NeuroSky Brain-Computer Interface technology enhances interactivity between the mind and the world around it. By providing a cost effective, user-friendly brainwave reading platform, NeuroSky has the potential to transform sports, medical, education and many other industries. It will help everything from PC’s and mobile phones, to cars and homes adapt to humans in ways that have never been possible before. After much anticipation, NeuroSky formally announced an agreement with Titan Commerce in Linden, Germany, for distribution and support operations of the NeuroSky MindSet and ThinkGear technology components to the European Union, including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and all EU Markets. This is an addition to NeuroSky’s current distribution markets of the United States, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and China. NeuroSky currently has a growing number of partners in the EU, including renowned universities, gaming companies and researchers. Richard Reilly Ph.D., a professor at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland states, "We have been impressed with the quality of data from the MindKit Pro, compared to our gold-standard EEG acquisitions system. The MindKit Pro has now opened new possibilities for the remote monitoring patients' activity, which would be of a great benefit in patient care. We now plan to use the NeuroSky's MindKit Pro within our Neural Engineering educational programs." David Wortley, Director of the Serious Games Institute at Coventry University in the UK states, "There is already evidence that the use of 'off-the-shelf' video games by children in hospitals can provide more effective pain relief and recovery processes than drugs, and devices like Neurosky's could take these applications to a whole new level. The Holy Grail of computer-assisted learning has been an environment which supports self-directed learning and testing by recognising the ability and interest of the learner, and controlling the pace and direction of the learning experience to gain maximum interest and motivation." Act3Gaming, a French company that develops and markets serious games is working with Neurosky's technology to develop applications for the larger public and for public science museums or science exhibit spaces. Wissam Kahi, COO states, "We believe this is just the beginning of a larger revolution that will enable us to discover hidden and powerful abilities of our brain. Brainwave interpretation is a science that has been up to now limited to a small niche of scientific and medical experts. Neurosky's technology opens this fascinating field to everyone." Roll 7, a UK company based in London works with both public and private sectors to develop computer games that communicate socially responsible and educational massages for young people. They are currently developing a number of applications for use with the MindSet headset. CEO of NeuroSky Stanley Yang states, "I believe that within less than 10 years, BCI technology will be like what the Internet is today - something you don’t know how you lived without." Jim Sullivan, Vice President of World Wide Sales states, "Every new industry we engage with brings their expertise to the table. They are discovering new ways to apply the technology and providing an almost limitless creative capacity for ways that BCI can excite and benefit their customers." NeuroSky’s first partners, such as Mattel, have released the first products containing ThinkGear components, in Fall of 09', with phenomenal success. The Mattel Mindflex received the People’s Play Award, "Best Toy of the Year", was rated one of the top five toys by Bloomberg, and was so popular it sold out well before Christmas. Due to popular demand from consumers, developers and researchers, NeuroSky created the MindSet and made it available in the United States in the summer of 2009. The MindSet is a multimedia headset which connects to PC's and Mobile devices (including the iPhone), via bluetooth. It contains audio input and a microphone, as well as the single sensor arm that monitors the wearers brainwaves. www.neurosky.com
