Panasonic adds BL-C160 and BL-C140 to its range of network cameras (5/1/2010) Panasonic is pleased to introduce its new editions, the BL-C160 and BL-C140, to their highly featured, easy to use range of network cameras. Panasonic’s network cameras allow you view real time images over the internet, giving you the freedom to monitor around your home or office from any location, even on your mobile phone.
With security being an ever-growing concern for homes and small businesses, both the BL-C160 and BL-C140 offer outdoor ready security solutions, the IPX4 equivalent splash resistant body expands the scope of applications by allowing you to install the camera outside, making the cameras perfect for installation on the outside of your home or garage. The BL-C160 and C140 are fixed lens cameras with 10x digital zoom and an impressive viewing angle of 58 degrees horizontal and 45 degrees vertical. The monitors of the C160 and C140 simultaneously send MPEG4, recommended for viewing smooth motion images and JPEG, for higher quality images, allowing you to choose the video format that matches your internet connection and viewing needs. A further benefit lending itself to outside use is the Colour Night View Mode; this view mode is enabled as the light fades, with the camera automatically adjusting the brightness to show the image, allowing you to see clear, easy to view images even in the dark. Going one step further than this the BL-C160 has a built in LED light which can be lit automatically when the surroundings darken or the sensor detects people or animals. Not only are the C160 and C140 easy to set up, as they support the UPnP* (Universal Plug and Play), they also overcome the difficulty security solutions can often pose with power supply, however the BL – C160/140 include a LAN cable power supply allowing installation flexibility of being able to install the camera where there is no power outlet**. The BL-C160 also boasts a double sensor, using both human detection and motion detection. The built in human detection sensor is triggered by changes in temperature, picked up by infrared light. While the motion detection function, available on both models, captures images only when motion is detected, meaning long term video recording is not required. Data recorded by the C160/140 is sent in encrypted form, making it difficult to “eavesdrop.” Both the BL-C160 and C140 are available now. *when combined with a UPnP compatible router
