Sharp adds LC-46D65E to AQUOS D65 range (10/12/2008)

Sharp expands its range of premium quality LCD TVs with additional model in the D65 series

Sharp has today added a new TV to its premium AQUOS D65 range. The LC-46D65E represents the top end of Sharp's enviable portfolio of TVs and follow the 32 inch and 37 inch models that were unveiled earlier this year. Packed with functionality and with strong environmental credentials, the D65 series is the ideal choice for any living room.

Premium picture quality

With a dynamic contrast ratio of 20,000:1, the on-screen images are reproduced beautifully while the 450cd/m2 brightness ensures pictures appear vivid and life like.

The D65 series also comes with a response time of 6m/s and full 1080p HD format, which offers a clarity of picture that the viewer could expect to see at the cinema. A built-in DVB terrestrial tuner and Freeview means no additional receiver is required.

This state of the art technology is made user friendly with a range of easy use connection options. Three HDMI inputs and two SCART ports means the 46" can be used with Blu-ray players, games consoles and sound systems. In addition there is a USB terminal for storage devices that allows you to play music (MP3 files) or view your party snaps (JPEG files) on screen, making it more than just a TV.

Superb sound

The picture quality of the series is ably supported by a sound system that ensures dialogue, music and special effects are replicated with accuracy. With the latest audistry by Dolby Digital and two 10 Watt speakers, the larger models in the D65 series offer a sound that is as clear as the on screen image. Automatic volume control and clear-voice technology are also included to adjust the sound level on loud sections of film or television programmes automatically - meaning an end to over-intrusive adverts.

Chic design

Available in a slim-line, piano black finish, the D65 series boast an elegance and style synonymous with Sharp TVs. The 176 degree viewing angle also means the screen is clearly visible from almost any seat in the room. Tommaso Monetto, LCD Product Manager, Sharp UK, commented "Home entertainment technology is always evolving and we have developed an AQUOS series that offers premium quality viewing in a chic package. The D65 provides consumers with groundbreaking home entertainment technology, a sleek finish and slim design - just in time for Christmas."

For those that are environmentally conscious but still want the most up-to-date gadgets in a beautiful home, the LC-46D65E also comes with the Energy Saving Recommended badge, meaning it has met the strict criteria on energy efficiency set out by the Energy Saving Trust. In addition, the D65 series come with an energy-save power mode and low power standby. The Optical Picture Control (OPC) function is also installed to power down the background lighting level of the television under low ambient light conditions, which not only aids your viewing experience but helps save on electricity. Whilst the LCD has a low power consumption when on stand by of just 0.5W. All this combined means consumers can expect genuine cost savings through low power consumption levels, whilst helping the environment.

Pricing and Availability

The Sharp LC-46D65 LCD TV will be available in the UK from the end of November 2008. Retail price TBC.
