Toshiba launches the Qosmio range of high-end multimedia and gaming notebooks (18/8/2008) · Qosmio F50 and G50 models launch with Toshiba Quad Core HD Processor Toshiba Computer Systems Division today announced the UK launch of its new Qosmio range of high-end multimedia and gaming notebooks, with three new models arriving to market with immediate effect. TOSHIBA QOSMIO F50 AND G50 Toshiba's new F50 and G50 models are premium multimedia laptops encased in an impressive high-gloss and latch-less design. Created specifically for consumers who demand the highest-quality audio-visual performance, the new F50 and G50 models provide a truly advanced home entertainment experience, delivering the best HD performance ever seen in a laptop. The Qosmio F50 and G50 models both launch with Toshiba's new Quad Core HD Processor, a powerful new media processor based on cell architecture. The Quad Core HD processor is able to provide a number of premium multimedia features, such as real-time high definition video and DVD upscaling, high-performance video editing and transcoding, as well as unique hand gesture control. Each model also offers up to 640GB Hard Disk Drive storage, with system memory expandable to 8GB to cater for the most demanding of entertainment needs. The inclusion of Toshiba's Quad Core HD processor within the Qosmio range allows different ways of controlling multimedia functions. Using an integrated webcam, in-built Toshiba Gesture Control technology is able to recognise simple hand movements and rapidly translates them into commands for controlling AV features. The result of this unique technology is the ability to control numerous multimedia applications with such simple gestures as a 'thumbs-up', open palm or a wave of the hand - allowing you to start and stop videos or DVDs without the need for a remote control. The F50 and G50 models are powered by the very latest Intel Centrino 2 processors, which offer a step forward in wireless connectivity, battery life and high-definition multimedia performance. This powerful new technology provides extraordinary processing power for all features, with Toshiba's Quad Core HD processor providing an extra boost for multimedia tasks - allowing users to enjoy resource-rich multimedia content while maintaining the full benefits of Intel Centrino 2 processing technology. Graphics are handled by nVIDIA GeForce graphics technology, while integrated Harman Kardon speaker technology provides full-bodied sound to match. Succeeding the Satellite X200, the Qosmio X300 takes the design of gaming laptops to a new level, thanks to its impressive 'Fire Shark' exterior design theme. Red LED illumination highlights the multimedia bar, touchpad and tweeter speakers, with the bass speakers adorned in a special flame design. Complementing the design is a specification with room for the highest-end gaming performance possible. Power is provided by Intel(r) Centrino 2 technology with Intel(r) Core2 Duo Extreme processors, up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM and dual Hard Disk Drives with capacity of up to 640GB.
