Living Control's iPhone Interface offers complete multiroom control from the iPhone/iTouch (23/5/2008) Stand B7, CEDIA UK Expo 2008 The most powerful control interface for the iPhone goes live at CEDIA UK EXPO 2008, stand B7 With characteristic flair, leading multiroom innovator Living Control will offer the most intuitive level of multiroom control yet available from an iPhone. Launching at this year’s CEDIA UK Expo 2008, LC’s new iPhone/iPod Touch interface joins those developed for Nokia’s N800 and N810 Internet Tablets to expand Living Control’s powerful suite of handheld control options. Living Control’s iPhone/iPod Touch interface will show its MusicBoxNT and Studio6 MediaServer GUIs via a dedicated onscreen display button, effectively transforming these devices into a mobile control panel for the entire system. By using the GUIs, owners have the freedom to select ‘by name’ artist, album, play list or TV channel in any room. The interface offers users the ability to download, store, control and enjoy web content such as podcasts, music files and news wherever they are in the home, placing a limitless choice of Internet information and entertainment options at their fingertips. Unlike other webbased iPhone interfaces recently announced, which operate through the iPhone’s embedded Safari browser, Living Control’s is a standalone application for the iPhone or iPod Touch and provides a faster, more reliable and intuitive experience as a result. For instance, it allows the convenience of gesturebased control and simultaneous control from at least sixteen devices (certain webbased solutions are limited to two). It also provides for the possibility of superior graphics, screen art and content as the result of a licensing arrangement between Living Control and last.fm. Last.fm is a service that keeps track of the music preferences, and then produces a large number of features personalised to the listener. By exploiting the iPhone’s innate functionality and portability, Living Control has provided its clients with a uniquely powerful and dynamic level of utility and control, marking the next stage in the evolution of multiroom entertainment. The iPhone/iPod Touch are the latest means available to choose and control entertainment around the home in conjunction with a Living Control multiroom system. Selections may also be made through inwall panels, TVs, PCs and Macs, Linux and Pocket PCs. Availability as a download from Living Control’s website: July 2008. www.livingcontrol.com
