LG Launches Ultra-thin LG Scarlet LCD TV (13/5/2008)

LG Electronics (LG), a major player in the global flat panel display market, has announced the global launch of its Scarlet TV, one of the world's slimmest LCD TVs. With a striking, slim silhouette, red-coloured back and soft touch on-off sensor, the flagship 42LG6100 1.7-inch thin LG Scarlet TV is the epitome of elegance. A round aperture with LED light completes the design and gives the set a truly glamorous glow.

"The LG Scarlet TV is designed to appeal to people who want a TV with breathtaking design. We wanted to create a completely immersive experience, in terms of both aesthetics and viewing," said Anthony Yang, general product manager for LG Electronics. "The design draws the eye via the circular accent and we've included a unique sound-effect that activates when the TV turns on, creating a truly mesmerising experience for the user."

The LG Scarlet TV is not only about looks; it comes packed with LG technology giving its audience an ultimate viewing experience. LG's Intelligent Sensor technology analyses ambient light levels and automatically adjusts the screen's brightness. By sensing colour, temperature and illumination of its surroundings, the Intelligent Sensor identifies the viewing atmosphere and produces the best colour quality to help viewers watch TV with ease. This also has the added benefit of cutting power consumption by as much as 62 per cent.

The LG Scarlet TV also specifically features advanced picture tuning functions including an AV Mode and Expert Mode. These controls give viewers the ability to tune their TVs precisely for any image source. The AV Mode allows users to switch automatically between TV settings depending on what they are watching at the time. From the remote control, users can select which type of programme they are watching and the set will optimise the picture to suit that genre - whether it is Cinema Mode to get deep blacks and vivid colours for movies, Sports Mode for faster picture response times for the football or Game Mode for both while playing on a games console.

For those who want to calibrate the TV themselves, the LG Expert Mode allows the avid TV enthusiast to fine tune the picture at a professional level. Certificated by the ISF (Imaging Science Foundation) picture quality calibration institution, this mode lets the viewer adapt the settings to the way they want them, giving them full control of their viewing experience.

For the best sound quality, the LG Scarlet TV includes LG's invisible speaker system which is specially tuned by renowned audio expert Mr. Mark Levinson. This unique system incorporates speaker actuators around the perimeter of the entire bezel, eliminating traditional speaker drivers and associated grills. This not only allows for a sleek, finished look, but also offers a wider "sweet spot" by creating a virtual "wall" of sound. Additionally, LG's new "Clear Voice" technology automatically enhances the sound frequency range of the dialogue even when background noise swells.

It's advanced HD Ready 1080p TruMotion 100Hz technology eliminates motion blur even during fast-moving action sequences. A 15,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio means that blacks are darker, whites are brighter and colours more vibrant, while 24p TruCinema technology shows films in their native 24 frames per second. For user convenience, the LG Scarlet TV offers FULL HDMI v1.3, USB 2.0, component, D-sub and SCART.

The LG Scarlet TV will be available in the UK from May 2008.
