Technical Consumer Equipment market experiencing healthy growth (16/4/2008)

Consumer expenditure on Technical Consumer Equipment (TCE) in Western Europe remained on a healthy growth track in Q4 2007. Consumers spent a total of €2.6 billion; resulting in an overall market growth of 10.9% (quarter to quarter).

LCD TVs continue to bring in the highest amount of turnover in the market; with double digit growth both in terms of volume and value. The MP4 Player market also experienced positive growth, compensating for the declining MP3 Player market in volume and value.

Games Consoles were also popular during this quarter; with a growth of 251.4% in value in the Home Console market. The Portable Consoles market also witnessed a healthy growth of 50.1% in value in Q4 2007.

The UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands and Belgium all witnessed a positive growth during Q4 2007. The Christmas season yet again had a big role to play in this. In particular the UK succeeded in generating the most amount of turnover in the TCE market, overtaking Germany.
