Lutron unveils GRAFIK Eye QS lighting system (4/2/2008)

Lutron Electronics Co. Inc., world leader in lighting control, today unveiled its latest technology the GRAFIK Eye QS at the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) expo.

Taking its lead from Lutron's flagship GRAFIK Eye system, GRAFIK Eye QS takes the product to the next level with new features that build on the much loved original's technology. The new additions ensure that QS will become the integrated lighting control system of choice for small to medium applications among custom installers.

Natural light control

Additions to the original GRAFIK Eye design include a more advanced user interface and automatic control of as many as three groups of Lutron's Sivoia QS motorised shades and curtains, enabling daylight sensing and corresponding energy savings to be built into the system. From a wall-mounted control or an infrared, wireless remote control, GRAFIK Eye QS can transform a room into a number of natural or artificially lit scenes that have been pre-programmed into the system.

Real-time energy saving measurement

For monitoring energy consumption levels, the new GRAFIK Eye QS also includes a display screen that enables the user to see real-time energy savings achieved across the lighting system as the lamps are dimmed.

Easy on the eye

The capacity of GRAFIK Eye QS remains the same as the original, with as many as six lighting load levels per unit and four scene presets available, allowing built in ease of use from the wall panel or a wireless remote. However, the two-digit LED readout of the GRAFIK Eye is replaced with a display screen that facilitates bespoke programming of the system and has additional timer capabilities (enabling, for example, the lights to fade up gradually at 8pm whilst the blinds come down).

Variety is the spice of life

Not only does the GRAFIK Eye QS offer users even greater functionality, but available in a wide variety of colour and finish combinations, it can be tailored to suit any interior or design scheme. To see the different combinations in action, alongside an interactive demonstration of the energy saving readings and blind and curtain control functions, Lutron has developed a user-friendly GRAFIK Eye QS online experience.

For further flexibility and convenience, GRAFIK Eye QS controls can interface to blinds, projection screens, audio-visual equipment, climate controls, and security systems for an integrated 'total control' system. GRAFIK Eye QS can be used with a variety of light sources including: incandescent, magnetic and electronic low-voltage and neon/cold cathode. Easy to install, GRAFIK Eye controls are suitable for new or retrofit construction. In many installations the controls can be used with existing wiring and all GRAFIK Eye accessories connect with only four low voltage wires.
