HomePlug Alliance Adds to Growing List of HomePlug Certified Products (4/1/2008)

"Plugfest" Testing Grants Compliance and Interoperability Certification to Products Demonstrating Seamless User Experience

The HomePlug(r) Powerline Alliance today announced that 11 new products have passed its HomePlug 1.0 compliance and interoperability (C&I) product certification "Plugfest" testing. Taking place on November 6 at the RadioShack headquarters in Dallas, Texas, the HomePlug "Plugfest" is the final stage of the Alliance's certification framework. This news quickly follows the recent announcement of nearly 40 HomePlug AV products which passed the Alliance's HomePlug AV certification last month.

Founded in 2000, the HomePlug Alliance remains the only compliance, interoperability and standards organization in the powerline technology industry. As part of the Alliance's goal of achieving the most complete consumer experience, the certification process is designed to maintain compatibility with existing powerline communications products.

"The HomePlug alliance is truly excited about both the large number of products that member companies are submitting for C&I testing, as well as the variety of these products," said Craig Cedros from Intel Corporation, who serves as the chair of the HomePlug Powerline Alliance Compliance & Interoperability Work Group. "Following our recent success with the HomePlug AV 'Plugfest', the 1.0 certification event proved very successful with innovative products that will provide consumers with a user-friendly experience, identified by the HomePlug logo."

Products from seven HomePlug member companies, including Arkados, Asoka, Aztech, devolo, Fujitsu-Siemens, GigaFast and NETGEAR, passed the 1.0 certification requirements. The products cover a range of platforms, including an audio extender providing synchronized audio for the home, an adapter with integrated Wi-Fi and a DSL gateway. Among the products passing certification testing at last week's "Plugfest" are:

* Arkados - iPod Dock Reference Design * Asoka - PlugLink PL9650; PlugLink PL9550 WAP * Aztech - DSL605EH DSL Gateway; HL105E Wall Plug Adapter * devolo - dLAN Audio Extender * Fujitsu-Siemens - IH85 Wall Plug Adapter * GigaFast - PE881-TX/RX Audio Transmitter/Receiver * NETGEAR - XE103; XE104; XESP103

The HomePlug 1.0 compliance and interoperability test events use common test code, standardized platforms, test specifications and a variety of system profiles. To help manufacturers and consumers easily identify HomePlug 1.0 products, products that have passed certification can be identified by customers and consumers by the 'HomePlug 1.0 Certified' logo.
