SpeakerCraft debuts MODE Free, a new MODE keypad with RF system control in Europe (19/12/2007)

Stand C70, Integrated Systems Europe 2008

Now You're in Control! Access and Adjust Volume, Source and Content in any Zone from any Location With MODE Free(tm)

SpeakerCraft, America's original manufacturer of in-wall speakers, has chosen ISE 2008 for its European launch of MODE Free(tm), an RF wireless version of its internationally acclaimed MODE keypad.

MODE Free builds on the incredible success of the current MODE interface by offering full system control from a palm-sized portable display, which can be carried between rooms and docked at the wall or tabletop. Although completely wireless, MODE Free retains all of the simplicity and elegance of its hard-wired predecessor, including scroll and click navigation and the ability to display song information from the iPod(r), music servers, XM tuners and even the new iPhone(r) .

"The overwhelming acceptance of the MODE interface confirmed that we were moving in the right direction" remarked Jeff Francisco, SpeakerCraft's V.P. of Engineering. "After discussing the success of the first version of the system both internally and with our dealers, it became obvious that a wireless version was the next logical step."

From in-wall or in-hand, a full colour screen allows you independently to select and enjoy eight different music or video sources in up to sixteen different areas of the home. Multiple users may access and adjust volume, source and content in any zone from any location simultaneously. MODE Free's enhanced utility also provides the homeowner with control over zones that are inadvertently left on or being used by younger members of the family.

Two different docks are available. Both the tabletop and in-wall docks allow the MODE Free to recharge its internal lithium ion battery. The in-wall dock actually reconnects the MODE to the hardwired MZC system. It also features spring-loaded doors that close off the dock when the MODE Free is removed, leaving a finished look rather than an open cavity. The tabletop version is angled for comfortable access while docked and remains wirelessly connected to the system.
