News Linn launches the Klimax DS reference standard source component (13/11/2007) Tokyo sees the global launch of Klimax DS, the new reference standard source component from LINN, which is set to shape the future of music and how people listen to recorded music. Klimax DS is the first authentic hi-fi product to stream digital music over a standard home network and sets a new, previously unattainable, performance standard. "At LINN we have always believed the source comes first," says LINN Director of Engineering Gilad Tiefenbrun. "Klimax DS advances that tradition and will improve the performance of any hi-fi system as the ultimate manifestation of precision engineered performance and beauty." LINN will demonstrate Klimax DS in Tokyo in a LINN Aktiv system featuring: * LINN Sondek LP12SE Reference Turntable A supreme breakthrough-product, Klimax DS is an original LINN design and completely open, supporting the highest quality open formats (including FLAC and WAV) and controllable through the UPnP(tm) AV 2.0 open standard. Users can quickly and easily access and control their music through a wireless, Ultra Mobile PC or similar device no matter what shape their music collection -- downloads or CDs are stored separately on a standard secure, reliable and upgradeable networked hard drive array (or NAS). "Klimax DS has the performance to transform hi-fi industry perceptions and possibilities in the same way as LINN Sondek LP12 did 35 years ago. As with the LP12, the only way to judge Klimax DS is to listen to it. We believe vinyl has finally met its match," Tiefenbrun says.
