CodexNovus Introduces DV-1 Digital Media Reader (24/10/2007)

CEDIA US Expo 2007

CodexNovus, the innovative designer and manufacturer of digital media servers, is proud to introduce the DV-1 DVD/CD/8-in-1 Digital Media Reader, a media input device that makes it easy for users to upload their entire digital media collections to the CodexNovus HDcodex(tm) Player/Library of their choice allowing instant random access to movies, music, and other digital media in stunning high definition video and brilliant 5.1 and 7.1 audio surround.

"Our goal is to take the best digital playback technology on the market - and make it invisible," said CodexNovus' president Hugo Feugen. "We're allowing the movie and music lover to forget about the equipment and put his or her focus where it belongs - on the media experience itself."

Performance

Attesting to their no-compromise approach to performance, all CodexNovus devices have received full Imaging Science Foundation (ISF) Certification insuring that they meet the metrics and specifications that define the very best video performance available for consumers.

"CodexNovus ISF certification is proof that properly designed digital video products need not sacrifice image quality for server based operational convenience. The audio world has already sacrificed quality for such convenience - we must be vigilant to insure that does not happen to HDTV owners," said Joel Silver, president of the Imaging Science Foundation. "There are too many video systems that degrade HDTV performance. CodexNovus systems do not".

Ease

The DV-1 Digital Media Reader operates seamlessly with all HDcodex media players, such as the DML-1600 with its massive 1.6-terabyte storage capacity. Media is placed into the DV-1 and uploaded using the intuitive HDcodex user interface, which allows finding and controlling favorite media quickly, along with all source information and metadata.

Flexibility

The DV-1 Digital Media Reader supports unencrypted DVDs and CDs, as well as a wide variety of data storage/transfer technologies, including Type I/II Compact Flash, IBM Microdrive, 3.3 Smartmedia (capacity to 128MB), Secure Digital/Multimedia Card, Memory Stick, and Memory Stick PRO.

Data file formats supported include MPEG, AVI, TS, VC-1, MP2, MP3, AC3, WAV, AAC, HTML, SWF, BMP, PNG, TIFF, GIF and JPEG media files.

Reliability

CodexNovus has already established an enviable reputation for proven performance and reliability as demonstrated over the past three years at flawlessly run trade-shows partnering with some of the industry's finest companies, such as Stewart Film Screen, Da-Lite, projectiondesign & Vidikron/Runco. And unlike systems and servers originating in the "PC World", with CodexNovus's HDcodex system there is no confusion or set-up difficulty arising from literally hundreds of possible configurations and mismatches, no operating system concerns, and no virus worries.

Affordability

At an MSRP of $799.00, the DV-1 Digital Media Reader is priced to reach a broad market, while still allowing dealers a generous profit margin.
