News CompTIA HTI+ Certification Replaced by CEA-CompTIA Digital Home Technology Integrator+ certification (19/10/2007) The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), the world's largest provider of certifications for technology professionals, announced today that September 30, 2007 is the last day that CompTIA HTI+ certification exams will be available. Earlier this year, CompTIA, in collaboration with the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), launched a new professional credential for technicians in the growing field of home technology integration. The CEA-CompTIA Digital Home Technology Integrator+ (DHTI+) certification covers all aspects of the connected home focusing on the personal computer as the controlling hub. It is targeted at home technology system installers and integrators who install, maintain and service digital home products. "Since its launch this spring, CEA-CompTIA DHTI+ has rapidly become the foremost certification for the digital home technology integrator," said Neill Hopkins, vice president, skills development, CompTIA. CompTIA HTI+ was designed as an entry-level certification, providing validation for knowledge of all aspects of home network integration, including structured wiring installation and integration of all home sub-systems. Market research and analysis indicated that a more advanced certification in digital home technology skills is appropriate for this market. CEA-CompTIA DHTI+ certification maps to specific job roles and skills in home technology integration, such as: -- System infrastructure and integration, including user interfaces and control processors; network setup and support; and internet access and protocol. -- Digital home entertainment and distribution, including digital rights management and IP; media center PCs and entertainment PCs. -- Digital home control of telecommunications, lighting, energy management, and security. Individuals now holding CompTIA HTI+ certification are encouraged to enhance their credential by taking the CEA-CompTIA DHTI+ exam.
