News SpeakerCraft announces NEAT! series of flangeless in-wall and in-ceiling loudspeakers (3/10/2007) CEDIA US Expo 2007 Aesthetic option broadens appeal SpeakerCraft, America's original manufacturer of in-wall speakers, announces a series of in-wall and in-ceiling speakers that leave no exterior flange exposed. Citing demands from architects and designers for a less conspicuous physical appearance, SpeakerCraft has created the "No Edge Audio Technology" or "NEAT!" series of loudspeakers that address this need and still remain simple and efficient to install. "As the inventor of the in-wall speaker we long ago set the standard for both appearance and performance," said Jeremy Burkhardt, SpeakerCraft's president. "We understand the critical nature of making speakers blend into the dˇcor and want to give our dealers yet another option that will increase the aesthetic appeal for some of their clients. This is not necessarily the only look for a flush mounted speaker, it is simply another look." Since the flange has always been an integral part of a flush mounted speaker's installation function, the greatest challenge was to create the new look without sacrificing ease of installation. "Dealers are always interested in improving the look and feel of their installations" remarked Jeff Francisco, SpeakerCraft's V.P. of Engineering "But they still demand that the speakers install quickly and efficiently. We have addressed both elements with a very clever installation system dedicated to this new format and without adding substantial cost." Eight different models will be available in the new NEAT! format in both in-wall and in-ceiling versions. They will feature 4.5-inch, 7-inch and 8-inch woofers in various configurations and performance levels. The in-ceiling versions will also feature SpeakerCraft's patented AIM technology allowing the speaker to be pointed at the listening area.
