News Niles announces VS-6 high definition video distribution system (3/10/2007) CEDIA US Expo 2007 Custom installers can now provide high definition distributed audio/video with local television automation Niles Audio Corporation, The First Name in Custom Installation(r), today announced the introduction of the VS-6, a high definition video distribution system, and the IRG, a device for automating local television sets. When used in conjunction with the award-winning IntelliControl(r) ICS, ZR-6 or ZR-PRO multizone distributed audio systems, the VS-6 / IRG combination delivers high definition video content from six independent sources to up to 30 individual zones and makes audio/video entertainment available from one single button press of Niles keypads, touch screens and hand held wireless remote controls. The VS-6 system architecture supports high definition video distribution via component video and CAT-5 outputs simultaneously for signal transmission up to 300 meters. The IRG manages local television power-on, input selection and power-off via network interface with the VS-6 and IntelliControl ICS or ZR-PRO multizone systems. Niles dealers can now offer their clients high definition audio/video distribution, including local television automation, from a variety of user interfaces that enable end users to operate sophisticated audio/video systems with the touch of a button. "Now, Niles dealers can distribute audio and high definition video via component video cabling or CAT-5 wiring and control it from any Niles user interface," said Frank Sterns, president of Niles. "With flat panels being hung everywhere and designers demanding less clutter, Niles' new VS-6 / IRG combination is the ideal solution for distributing high definition video from a central system with local television automation," Sterns added. The VS-6 is a six source, six zone high definition video switcher that can also be used stand-alone using RS232 and/or infrared (IR) commands and integrates seamlessly with the IntelliControl ICS, ZR-6 and ZR-PRO whole house distributed entertainment systems. The IRG infrared gateway uses the IntelliControl ICS or ZR-PRO system network architecture to automate local televisions reliably. Integrating the VS-6 / IRG combination into IntelliControl ICS or ZR-PRO systems is quick and easy via Niles' wizard-based software. During system set-up, the installer answers a series of logical questions after which the system is automatically configured which saves installers time on the job and leads to improved productivity. The VS-6 high definition video switcher and IRG infrared gateway are on display at the CEDIA Expo in Booth 606 and will be available in December 2007.
