Calibre UK's New Dual Input HDMI Expansion Module Doubles HDMI Inputs on Vantage-HD High Definition Video Scaler/Processor (28/9/2007)

CEDIA US Expo 2007

á HDMI 1.3 capabilities support 'Deep Color' 10-bit signals for improved color depth and gray-scales
á Auto Lip-Sync Adjustment and Dolby TrueHD(tm) and DTS-HD Master Audio(tm) support for superior audio performance

A new expansion board adds two more HDMI inputs to the VantageHD high definition video scaler/processor for future-proof compatibility with 1080p high definition digital video sources such as Blu-ray(tm) and HDDVD.

The HDMI inputs on the expansion board are compatible with the HDMI 1.3 standard to support 10-bit "Deep Color" video sources, plus Dolby TrueHD(tm) and DTS-HD Master Audio(tm) audio codecs. The expansion board also enables picture-in-picture (PIP) on the Vantage's HDMI inputs. The board will be available beginning September 2007 at an MSRP of $799.

For high definition audio, the expansion board supports linear pulse code modulation (LPCM) for non-compressed audio signals up to 7.1 Channels at 192kHz sample rate. The board also passes high-bandwidth digital audio signals (such as Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby TrueHD) and supports legacy Dolby Digital and DTS formats.

To maintain flawless home theater audio and video performance, the expansion board also implements HDMI 1.3 auto lip sync capability, allowing time delay information from an HDMI signal to automatically adjust the audio delay within the processor.

Designed and manufactured by Calibre UK, Ltd., Bradford, England, the Vantage HD video scaler/processor incorporates Silicon Optix's most powerful video processing chip, the Realta HQV(tm) T2, and its most sophisticated Teranex(tm) video processing algorithms. Starting with the Silicon Optix HQV reference platform, Calibre UK has invested more than 20 man-years of additional custom hardware and software engineering for improved image quality and performance levels exceeding that of other HQV solutions as well as non-HQV competitor products.

The Vantage-HD processor has three output modes to optimize picture quality for plasma, LCD or projection displays (with image corner warp for extreme keystone correction). The processor also features digital and analog audio inputs that can be matched to the signal inputs, allowing audio and video signals to be switched via the same device.
