Gem announce Gem Logistics division, providing a wide range of logistics services to supply partners and retail customers (28/9/2007)

Following the unveiling of a new corporate identity last week, Gem have launched a new division, Gem Logistics, which will provide a broad range of services to both supply partners and retail customers. Incorporating its own identity within the Gem business, the new Gem Logistics division provides national logistical solutions to suit the needs of any operation; adding extra value with a wide range of supporting services to support an end to end supply chain solution.

Operating from the Lancashire based 110,000 sq ft National Distribution Centre, Gem Logistics boasts a dedicated and multi skilled team offering flexible solutions to suit any requirement.

The launching of Gem Logistics as an independent division will allow supply partners and retail customers to pick and choose from a comprehensive menu of logistical services to suit their needs.

Gem Logistics offers a number of unique tailored solutions to the channel including Primary and Secondary distribution, End User Fulfilment, Import & Export, Reverse Logistics and a vast array of other added value services such as security tagging, bundling, labelling and retail ready solutions.

"We despatched in excess of 18 million units last year of which 60% required some form of added value. Our picking accuracy of 99.99% and the fact that the NDC only currently operates a single shift pattern Monday to Friday demonstrates how we have the capacity to ensure that we deliver our partners' requirements both now and in the future" says Alan Lynch, Gem's Logistics Director.

Gem Logistics operates as part of Gem's new flexible "one integrated solution" approach to retail, allowing partners to utilise the multi facetted Gem business for all or selected services from its sales and distribution, manufacturing and the newly announced Gem's Creative division.
