News SIM2 introduces compact Grand Cinema HT380 high definition 1080p DLP projector (12/9/2007) Considering the incredibly compact dimensions of its striking, Giorgio Revoldini designed cabinet, it is a wonder SIM2 managed to cram all the leading-edge technology into its latest model, the Grand Cinema HT380. While the design measures a mere 35cm at is widest point, the plethora of technology comes from the company's flagship designs. What's more, it is the world's first projector to implement all these true high-end technologies at such a competitive price point, with the HT380 costing a surprisingly attractive £6500. It may seem strange to say it, but once you see the image, this product could be described as a real bargain. The HT380 is a full High Definition design that outputs uncompressed 1080p images (via a next generation Texas Instruments chipset), it implements SIM2's proprietary ALPHAPATH(tm) light engine, has a 160W lamp, and not only will you find the ingenious BrilliantColor(tm) picture enhancement on board with a primary and secondary colour wheel, but new Unishape(tm) lamp technology is also incorporated. SIM2 is the first manufacturer to bring together these two new technologies - and their many benefits - for the home theatre projector market. This partnership of precision optics, fine pixel detail and state-of-the-art engineering means the HT380 delivers a level of picture clarity that is truly exceptional. You'll find increased brightness - which is double that of conventional designs - and contrast ratio - a pure, unprocessed and conservatively estimated figure of 6500:1 - along with a wider colour palette than its competitors. The result is an intensity of picture that is unsurpassed. And thanks to its use of true 10-bit video processing (with high definition scaling and de-interlacing capabilities) the HT380 supports content supplied at 1080p at 24 frames per second, as found on Blu-ray discs and other high definition media. This means you experience the film at exactly the same speed that is used to shoot and master the films for the cinema, delivering master quality images for a true cinematic experience. The 10-bit processing can also upscale standard definition content to full High Definition (1080p) resolution. Completing the package is an HDMI digital connection, which alongside the array of analogue inputs, makes the HT380 compatible with every available digital and analogue video source. The HT380 underlines SIM2's position as the world leader in Digital Light Processing (DLP(r)) technology and the incomparable quality achievable with the DLP format, which has a response time that is 500 times faster than that of competing technologies and is the Hollywood standard.
