Symmetry Systems presents THIEL's ViewPoint loudspeakers for seamless integration with flat panel televisions (31/8/2007)

The THIEL ViewPoint(r) is a 2-way "Coherent Source" loudspeaker designed for use with wall-mounted flat panel televisions and video displays. These loudspeakers are custom-built to match the size and colour of any flat panel display, offering both a very high-performance sound and a seamless, integrated appearance.

Compared to the very directional in-wall or wall mounted loudspeakers the ViewPoint's combination of both a coaxial/coplanar driver mounting and a 90 degree radiation pattern ensures that the sound covers far more of the room area. By using the patent-pending combination of mounting the woofer very close to and angled to the wall surface, these loudspeakers eliminate the wall-reflection cancellation that causes irregularities in the frequency response and so mars the sonic performance of virtually every other surface-mounted loudspeaker. The end result is a greater degree of tonal fidelity, accuracy, and more natural spaciousness.

The ViewPoint's coaxial driver mounting, very wide dispersion characteristics, and excellent imaging performance also eliminate the need for a third, centre channel loudspeaker. THIEL's "Coherent Source" design preserves the critical information that is required for outstanding spatial reproduction to ensure completely accurate dialogue replay. The use of just two loudspeakers around the screen both enhances the overall appearance of the wall-mounted array and emphasises the wide-screen sensation.

Other features include the custom-built, aluminium cabinet to visually integrate with any brand of display (this cabinet can be painted); the ultra-low distortion short-coil, long gap, copper-stabilized driver motor systems in the drive-units; and the system design which is completely time and phase coherent to ensure a greater realism.
