Acoustiblok provides acoustic solutions for home theatres (29/8/2007)

Booth 387, CEDIA US Expo 2007

Acoustiblok(r), a revolutionary sound isolation product, is the perfect solution for home owners who want to keep sound inside - and outside noise out - of their home theater, or the entire home.

While other manufacturers of sound proofing material attempt to stop or absorb sound, Acoustiblok has resolved the problem in a vastly different way: through a unique thermodynamic process, Acoustiblok is engineered to transform sound energy into inaudible friction energy as the material flexes from sound waves. Acoustiblok is made of a 1/8 inch thick proprietary viscoelastic polymer material with a high density mineral content, heavy yet extremely flexible.

A 1/8 inch layer of Acoustiblok in a standard wall (STC 53) will result in more sound reduction than 12 inches of poured concrete (STC 51) and can reduce sound transmission by as much as 30 decibels. (Certified independent lab test results.)

Acoustiblok requires no permit changes; structural or finish change; new tools or skilled labor. There are no recalls for maintenance and no warranty issues. It is easily cut with a utility knife and is typically stapled to wood studs, or screwed to metal studs before drywall.

Acoustiblok was awarded the John Connell Award for Technology and Innovation bestowed by the Britain's Noise Abatement Society at the British House of Commons. Judges hailed Acoustiblok as "a revolutionary step in noise abatement for both the workplace and home."

"What makes Acoustiblok stand alone from other sound reduction materials is that it has such tremendous density and mass and yet takes up such minimal space - a crucial factor in home theater installations," stated Lahnie Johnson, president and founder. "Expending acoustic energy, as Acoustiblok does, is vastly superior and easier than conventional methods of trying to stop or block sound with a rigid material."

Acoustiblok is UL approved for use in 277 fire-rated wall/floor/ceiling assemblies. Acoustiblok is UV resistant, impervious to water and is mold classified 10 - the highest rating.

Acoustiblok is a leader in the research and development of sound abatement and is currently consulting with NASA regarding the use of its product in limiting sound transmission through tile floors.
