News SIM2 offers home cinema lovers a fresh start with new Domino 10 entry-level model (15/8/2007) SIM2's new entry-level model, the Domino 10, brings the renowned home theatre projector maker's gorgeous build and stunning high-definition performance to a whole new audience. Guiding the maker of the world's most beautiful projectors into a previously uncharted price point - the sub-£2000 territory - the Domino 10 (or D10 once you get to know it a little better) promises to foster a new legion of SIM2 disciples. Forget trickle down technology, this is downpour technology: armed with Texas Instruments' latest 0.65" DLP(tm) chipset, the D10 presents a pixel resolution of 1280 x 768 meaning the Italian maker's new projector is the ideal companion for today's high definition video sources. Delivering sumptuous 720p pictures the clever D10 accepts full HD content, and the inclusion of Brilliant Colour Image - another cutting-edge technology from the Texas-based DLP(tm) pioneer - results in superbly sharp, and brilliantly colourful pictures. As befits a model emanating from northern Italy the D10 is well connected. The customary analogue inputs are present and correct, there is space to park both HDMI and DVI cables, and the D Sub socket takes care of gamers and surfers. To help users switch through connected devices - without getting up off the sofa to turn up the lights - SIM2 thoughtfully supplies a backlit, and downright dinky, remote control. Number counters will note the new Domino offers a contrast ratio of 2000:1, as well as 10 Bit video processing, however there is more to this Italian model than impressive paper figures. The D10, as you would expect from a member of the thoroughbred SIM2 family, also presents an impressive visual figure. Clad in a matt-black cloak, the curvaceous chassis means the D10 looks as delectable with the lights on as it does with the lights off. To further please its new audience the D10 is the perfect house guest. The cabinet's compact dimensions combined with the unit's high-quality, shortthrow lens (this design projects a large picture from a short distance) mean SIM2's entry-level machine can be used in the smallest of rooms. It would appear that a lack of space is no longer a reason for denying your home a Ôproper' home cinema. It would also seem that lack of funds is no longer a reason for resisting a pin-sharp image of up to 120 diagonal inches - at £1600 the D10's appeal is truly undeniable. Suggested retail price inc VAT: Domino D10 £1600
