Sima introduces the X-GEN Pro HDMI tester (15/8/2007)

Booth 542, CEDIA US Expo

The X-GEN Pro has several unique features including an RS-232 port for loading your favorite setups or integrating into a remote control system allowing for off-site diagnosis. The unit can also generate HDCP signals. The HDCP can be turned on or off, which is critical for testing compatible components. The X-GEN Pro can generate patterns in 4:2:2 or 4:4:4 YUV format and also 4:4:4 RGB. The unit provides for the insertion of audio into the HDMI stream and also has an internal tone generator.

How do you know if the signal you are sending is true HD? The ExtenHD(tm) X-GEN Pro is an HDMI signal generator, allowing the user to select one of over 35 signals at various frequencies. From standard 640 x 480 resolutions up to 1080p signals, the X-GEN pro is an invaluable tool for the bench or toolbox.

"We needed to generate a true HD signal to test our displays. Based on this need, we developed the X-GEN Pro solution," says Bob Pennington, Commercial Products manager at Sima. The tester allows users to dial in a wide variety of signals. It is useful for testing, confirmation and system setup. "We use the running H pattern to setup projection systems. It's also helpful for resolution and keystoning setup" adds Pennington. "The tester outputs DVI signals too, so it is backward compatible," Pennington says. The X-GEN Pro also includes an IR Remote that controls the unit.

The X-GEN Pro is just one of the innovative products made for demanding users in the ExtenHD(tm) family. Switchers, protocol converters and distribution amplifier/splitters round out the ExtenHD(tm) line. Products are rack mountable and feature a cable management system that is critical for the current non-latching HDMI connector.
