Adapt Control Solutions Earns Frost & Sullivan's Recognition for Business Development Strategy Leadership in the European Home Automation Market (24/7/2007)

Based on its analysis of the home automation market, Frost & Sullivan has named Adapt Control Solutions as the recipient of the 2007 European Business Development Strategy Leadership of the Year Award. The company has successfully developed and implemented strategies in the last three years to expand its presence in the European home automation market.

"From a modest start in 1998 as a systems installer, Adapt has developed its unique product, the Adapt Home Controller and successfully achieved a significant market presence, successfully competing with established companies," notes Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Niles Newberry. Given its aggressive growth strategies and expansion into new national markets, its profound growth is expected to continue.

Identifying the opportunity for a home automation controller that was competitively priced, easy to programme and simple to use, the company launched the Adapt Home Controller in 2006. Combining its controller with the technology of strategic partners, Adapt delivers systems that are cost effective, while also providing functionality similar to the systems of the most prestigious manufacturers.

The Adapt Home Control system offers the functionality of a professional home automation system, with distributed video and audio; control of HVAC, lighting, shutters and blinds, as well as remote control and programming through the Internet. It is also user friendly and has a clear, intuitive graphical interface. In addition, it allows the end user to independently create personalised programmes.

"Adapt systems also employs a combination of wired and wireless technology, utilising the benefits of each, depending upon the application," adds Newberry. "For instance, wireless communication is employed for control panels and lighting systems that reduce the footprint of the installation, whereas wires are utilised in audio-visual distributions systems to ensure reliability and quality."

Based in Oslo, Norway, the company has expanded into Sweden, Ireland, Bulgaria, Iceland and the United Kingdom, a key country in the European market. From this base of eleven outlets, the company is well on its way to achieving its target of 200 within five years. Currently, it is setting up a distribution centre in Amsterdam and also plans to expand into Spain, Germany, France, Greece and other rapidly growing markets.

This expansion is being achieved through an effective marketing plan including considerable presence at trade shows such as the T3 Smart Home Show in March 2007 at the National Exhibition Centre in the United Kingdom and membership of the Custom Electronic and Design Installation Association (CEDIA). Besides, Adapt has also been very selective in the establishment of a network of dealerships, which have helped it to maintain quality, while enjoying rapid growth.

The Frost & Sullivan Award for Business Development Strategy Leadership of the Year is presented each year to the company that has demonstrated excellence in business development within the industry. The Award recognises the company's ability to best perceive consumer needs, develop products and/or services that meet consumer needs, successfully introduce products or services to the industry and identify new market segments to expand the existing customer base. Through a combination of vision, technology, and successful marketing, the Award recipient has demonstrated superior market growth skills.

Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognise companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis, and extensive secondary research in order to identify best practices in the industry.
