AMX Launches AutoPatch Distribution Amplifier Driver Line (5/7/2007)

CEDIA UK Expo 2007

AMX, worldwide leader in automation and control, technology management and audio/video switching and distribution, has expanded its AutoPatch signal distribution product family with the release of a new line of Distribution Amplifier Drivers (DADs). These new solutions provide a cost-effective, high-quality way to distribute a single video input, such as a DVD player, HD cable box or computer video, to multiple outputs, such as a plasma displays or projectors, over great distances - while preserving signal quality. Video arrives at every display clear, sharp and at full strength.

The new DADs from AMX distribute high-resolution, analogue video to any display, making them ideal solutions for any organisation wanting to send one video source to two, four or six destinations over long distances without sacrificing signal quality. For example, schools and universities might use DADs to distribute educational videos throughout a facility or campus environment, while the military and government intelligence agencies might use them to distribute satellite video.

Key features of the DADs include:

* High bandwidth - 400 MHz @ +/-3 dB, which exceeds industry standards

* Integrated gain and peak line driving functionality - optimised for each signal style passed and selectable per output

* Long distance distribution - cable runs up to 500 feet for HDTV and 300 feet for RGB and RGBHV with no additional equipment required

"AMX's DADs are unique solutions, because they enable a level of customisation that hasn't existed up until now. Other products on the market either do not allow adjustments for distance compensation on the output, which reduces signal quality at longer distances if a separate line driver is installed, or they only allow a single adjustment on the output, which forces integrators to find an 'average', which results in 'overdriven' video at short distance outputs or weak video at longer distances," said Robert Noble, AMX chief technology officer. "Because our DADs offer adjustments on each output, every one can be set independently to ensure the proper amount of compensation is provided for each run, which will make installation easier and more cost effective for our customers."

DADs are available in the following seven models:

RGBHV (HD-15) 1x4 AVB-DAD-RGBHV-HD15-0104
RGBHV (BNC) 1x4 AVB-DAD-RGBHV-BNC-0104
RGBHV (BNC) 1x4 AVB-DAD-RGBHV-BNC-0106
Y/Pb/Pr (RCA) 1x2 AVB-DAD-CMPNT-RCA-0102
Y/Pb/Pr (RCA) 1x6 AVB-DAD-CMPNT-RCA-0106
RGB (BNC) 1x2 AVB-DAD-CMPNT-BNC-0102
RGB (BNC) 1x6 AVB-DAD-CMPNT-BNC-0106

AMX offers several mounting options for its DADs, including rack, furniture and wall mounts.

All seven DADs will be available in the third quarter of 2007.
