Fujitsu announces its first full 1080p high-definition flat screen TVs (5/7/2007)

Fujitsu General UK, a world leader in plasma display technology, today announces the UK availability of its new reference series range of full HD 1080p capable digital TVs. Branded AVIAMO, the new reference series currently includes a 65inch Plasma and a 37inch LCD TV. The AVIAMO digital TVs also debut the third generation of Fujitsu's renowned video processing technology - AVM III - which has been enhanced and fine-tuned for 1080p scaling, processing and display. The highly engineered AVIAMO range will be on display at CEDIA Expo 2007 from 26th - 28th June and the Fujitsu team will be taking orders from interested dealers and custom installers.

Both AVIAMO TVs boast a 1920 x 1080 resolution display, include two HDMI digital connectors and a digital TV tuner with electronic programme guide for standard digital TV. Each screen has been engineered to the highest possible standard with attention paid to every detail, from the all aluminium bezel and stand construction, to incorporating the best glass available on the market. Powered by the all-new AVM III video processor, the AVIAMO reference series is capable of capturing and faithfully reproducing every pixel in 1080p HD material. While also scaling standard definition (SD) and HD sources such as 720p, as well as processing the 1080i format, to the "Full HD" 1920 x 1080 resolution, once again demonstrating Fujitsu's lead within the in-built screen processing market.

AVM III adds full 1080p processing to the proven interlacing and scaling capabilities of the original AVM III video processor and adds a number of new enhancements including -

* Advanced colour management - including a new menu selection which allows for gamma adjustment, ultimately improving the grey scale performance by targeting specific areas within the grey scale.

* 24p/30p film mode - complementing Fujitsu's video mode application, this approach allows for an increase in motion smoothness for all film based material with 24p/30p film mode detection.

* Contour correction - enhanced tracking of contours on images to further reduce jagged edges.

In addition, the 37inch model comes complete with the integrated stand which includes 1300cc Bass Reflex speakers and is optional on the 65inch models to allow for wall-mounting.
