News Acoustiblok UK presents new space-saving wall assembly using a revolutionary sound isolation membrane (8/6/2007) Stand G20a, CEDIA UK Expo 2007 A new space-saving wall assembly using a revolutionary sound isolation membrane is set to give the UK building industry a much needed answer to Document E regulations. Acoustiblok, a high performance sound barrier manufactured in the States, astounded test officials at Architectural Testing Incorporated Ð the US equivalent to the BS Standards - and provides ratings way over and above Document E regulations. The latest test revealed that an STC 70 rated wall that is only 12 3/" thick is now possible and easily achieved with Acoustiblok. "In all the years of testing we have never tested anything that reduced sound to that degree," said Kurk Golden, who oversaw the lab test for the ASTM-E90 classification. "Acoustiblok's STC 70 and 85 exceed the testing capabilities of most laboratories. For reference, the highest wall we've ever tested was STC 67." The material, which is available directly in the UK, is the closest you can get to soundproof without building in a vacuum. It provides a solution which saves space, materials and labour with compromising superior STC ratings. Mike Ervine, Managing Director Acoustiblok UK Ltd, said "This new test data further supports Acoustiblok's quality and integrity. It is a superior solution for the construction industry and ideal for retro projects such as multi family housing in flats and apartments." "We're simply the most affordable and easiest to install sound-reduction product on the market and now we have broad UL Classification and the best STC to reinforce our lead in the marketplace."
