News Ivory Egg EXPOse KNX Knowledge (5/6/2007) Stand G3, CEDIA UK Expo 2007 Ivory Egg will be the sole exhibitor showcasing KNX products at CEDIA Expo 2007. KNX (or EIB as it used to be known) is the buzz word in the custom install world. Everybody knows 'something' about it, but few know what it really is. In short, KNX is the multi-vendor European standard for building control, from lighting to heating to AV, with switch finishes appropriate to any level of residential install.
Hot on the heels of the launch of KNX UK at the British Library Ivory Egg will be introducing KNX products to CEDIA Members at the 2007 expo. After many years of varying names and name changes such as EIB, Instabus and Konnex, the world's first open home and building automation standard has been consolidated under the KNX banner. KNX is often used as the underlying backbone in complex control systems as it provides greater levels of reliability than competing systems. There are a number of bridges available to link KNX with IR, RS232 or IP based systems with native KNX over IP in the coming months. Ivory Egg will be displaying and offering technical advice on a wide variety of products from many manufacturers including Gira, Jung, Merten, Enocean, ABB, Siemens, WHD, Theben, Cytech, and Peha. All these products operate within a KNX environment and between them they cover all aspects of building control including lighting, security, entry phones, audio, blind control and HVAC. Products include the 'Freeway' AV interface unit from DKT which makes interface between different AV 'worlds' and KNX simple.
