News DMi Launches New Escient Music Manager with iPod Dock (4/6/2007) Stand J6, CEDIA UK Expo 2007 DMi D&M Installation has announced the arrival of the new Escient Fireball FP-1 Music Manager with universal iPod(r) dock, for the European CI market. Escient is a recognised world leader in digital media management, and the Fireball(tm) range of network server and control products are best in class. The FireBall FP-1 seamlessly integrates the iPod within a digital media network, enabling streaming and control of music from and between the iPod and other media storage and playout devices. The unit also provides the full on-screen management features of the Fireball range for iPod. The FireBall FP-1 is equipped with a universal dock for iPod, combing management and streaming of music from iPod, as well from networked PCs and Macs, and other music servers, to an entertainment system, using the free FireBall browser based interface. Integrating control of all digital music network devices, and accessing them from a single on-screen web based user interface, the FP-1 enables streaming of audio from an iPod to other devices via the USB connecting dock. The FB-1 supports first and second generation iPod nanos, iPod mini, iPod with colour display and iPod with video. The FB-1 incorporates all of the usual FireBall CI features, including two way RS-232 and Ethernet control, discrete IR remote codes, multiple IR code banks, and built-in software updating over the Internet. Automatic CD identification with cover art is supported, and the FP-1 enables other FireBall units to access and playout music stored on an iPod, including music purchased from the iTunes(tm) Store. The FB-1 supports PCM, MP3, FLAC, WMA and AAC audio formats. European recommended retail price for the Fireball FP-1 is Û549/ £399 inc VAT. The FP-1 will be shown on the DMi stand (J6) at the CEDIA Expo, ExCel London, from 26 to 28 June.
