Planar introduces new 1080p LCD thin displays at CEDIA UK EXPO 2007 (29/5/2007)

CSE is delighted to offer an exclusive preview of the Planar range of LCD thin displays at the upcoming CEDIA UK EXPO.

As a next step in its strategy to deliver to deliver reliable, non-commodity high-end products to the global speciality home theatre channel, Planar Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: PLNR), a worldwide leader in speciality display solutions, will be introducing a line of four 1080p LCD thin displays in the summer. Planar's 52-inch PD520, 47-inch PD470, 42-inch PD420 and 37-inch PD370 offerings, leverage the company's exceptional track record and rich heritage in flat-panel display technology.

Combined with Planar's four best-in-class home theatre projector models and the award-winning, ambient-light rejection Xscreen system, the LCD thin displays will offer dealers a comprehensive solution for their speciality home theatre installation needs. Based on customer feedback, the line incorporates new and superior technological enhancements, and features a meticulously crafted and elegant design specifically created for the high-end consumer. The array of sizes and technology options address the unique requirements and preferences of discerning home theatre aficionados and integrators seeking optimal viewing in any room in the house.

Planar's latest speciality home theatre LCD thin displays will feature the highest HD resolution available (full 1080p) and innovative technology, including Advanced Colour Management II (ACM-3D) for depicting impressive images, true-to-life flesh tones and luminance control; and Faroudja TrueLife(tm), for showcasing detail enhancement and rich colour. Additional key specifications of the PD520, PD470, PD420 and PD370 include:

* Active Matrix TFT-LCD with Anti-Glare * 6.5 ms response time for seamless video display * Advanced video processing using Faroudja DCDi * Faroudja Intellicomb(r) video decoding * Per pixel Motion Adaptive De-interlacing (MADi) * Dynamic Contrast Ratio of up to 5000:1 * PIP/PBP support for graphics-over-video, video-over-graphics and video-over-video modes * Dual HDMI with HDCP * Nine analogue and digital interfaces for optimum flexibility and connectivity * RS-232 control for seamless system integration
