Living Control launches new generation of MusicBox servers at CEDIA UK Expo (29/5/2007)

Stand B7, CEDIA UK Expo 2007

Proprietary state-of-the-art audio servers offer more storage, rapid transfer speeds and true iPod(r) and podcast synchronisation

Living Control has added even more performance and convenience to its well established and ultra-reliable MusicBox series of home music servers. Like their predecessors, the new super-fast machines are exclusively designed and built by Living Control in the UK, and are not derived from the off-the-shelf platform common to many competitors. By virtue of their robust quality, the new servers are supplied with an unprecedented three-year parts and labour guarantee.

The latest generation of MusicBox servers is comprehensively specified to provide a wide selection of installation options and features. The new machines provide direct synchronisation with iPod(r) and the automatic downloading of podcasts without the need for a PC. They are the first to offer podcasting features: users may choose from a plethora of shows and bulletins and have them downloaded to the server to be enjoyed at any time in any room. Via the intuitive MusicBox GUI, users can create a 'mobile' play list of their favourite songs, albums and podcasts, which is transferred automatically to an iPod when connected to the server.

Available with or without wireless internet connection for control and title lookups, the new servers ship with enhanced software, which includes intuitive TV and PC GUIs, auto media import (from DVD, CD, PC and the latest generation of Internet Tablet devices) and easy remote control operation. They offer component, composite and S-Video TV outputs for all screen types.

The new features make it even easier to appreciate the superior architecture of Living Control's elite MusicBox designs. They are supplied with a robust fan-cooled hard-drive designed specifically for home media server applications, promoting longevity and reliability and upgradeable to 2TB internally. Equipped with the latest high-speed/low-noise digital technology of the kind used by high quality single-disc CD players, they can store over 1200 CDs using lossless FLAC compression and over 600 uncompressed CDs for 'audiophile' standards of replay resolution. At maximum compression, they hold the equivalent music content of nearly 7000 CDs!

The new MusicBox-NT

Wireless and Gigabit networking enables the MusicBox-NT and other devices such as tuners and Sky boxes to be controlled via PC, Mac, TV, PDA and Nokia N800. Provides five completely independent outputs. 500GB hard-drive (upgradeable to 2TB internally).

The new MusicBox5

Provides five completely independent outputs: the equivalent of having five separate music systems playing simultaneously around the home. Also offers a seamless backup option with the MusicBox backup drive. 400GB hard-drive (upgradeable to 2TB internally).

The new MusicBox WiFi

With built-in 54MB Wi-Fi networking and 802.11B/G compatibility, MusicBoxWiFi removes the need for a wired network connection to the server. It offers the same easy operation and top-drawer performance as other MusicBox designs, but with the freedom of wireless internet access, digital file transfer and control. Provides five completely independent outputs. 400GB hard-drive (upgradeable to 2TB internally).

The new MusicBox1

Uses the same high quality chassis, power supply, microprocessor set and the same intuitive PC and TV GUIs as other MusicBox designs, but offers a single output. A 250GB hard-drive, upgradeable to over 2TB internally.

Availability: May 2007

Approximate retail prices: MB-NT £3995.00; MB5 £3395.00; MBWiFi £3595; MB1 £2350
