Stand B8, CEDIA UK Expo 2007

Crestron, the market leader in control and automation solutions, will be featuring its latest product innovations on Stand B8 at CEDIA Expo. On display will be the new TPMC-8X which boasts video streaming, active biometric fingerprint recognition and Skype compatibility. Visitors will also be able to see the latest addition to the award-winning Adanto family, the Adanto Media System (AMS) as well as the exclusive UK preview of the brand new CEN-TIA telephone interface.

The TPMC-8X WiFi touchpanel is a new addition to Crestron's range of wireless media centre touchpanels. Available in a compact design, the TPMC-8X allows users to control all systems, including lighting, heating, security, blinds/curtains and much more all at the touch of a button. Users are also able to surf the internet, stream digital media, email and carry out other PC-based tasks all from this one wireless device.

The TPMC-8X features an embedded Windows XP Operating System that provides secure onboard PC functionality including 802.11 a/b/g wireless capabilities. It also features more than 1.5 GB of memory to provide high-speed performance in an ergonomic, lightweight, portable design. TPMC-8X offers an additional range of features including; a brilliant 8.4" SVGA screen for displaying 3D graphics and streaming video, built-in Bluetooth(r) technology, biometric scanner, stereo speaker system and microphone.

The TPMX-8X Wifi touchpanels operate on an embedded PC platform that enables Web access via Internet Explorer, streaming media using WindowsMedia(r) Player 10, e-mail, and full PC applications such as MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint(r), and Adobe(r) Acrobat(r) in a secure environment Ð all while providing intuitive control of AV distribution, lighting, climate control and security. Users can also access data and run applications on other computers from the TPMC-8X via Remote Desktop, while onboard NetMeeting(r) and Skype(tm) applications enable conferencing and voice-over-IP directly from the touchpanel.

Also on display will be the Adanto Media System (AMS), the latest addition to the award-winning Adanto family. The AMS delivers a high-performance surround sound and multi-room audio distribution solution in one elegant yet cost-effective package. Right out of the box, the AMS provides sophisticated surround processing and amplification for a complete home theatre, plus audio signal routing for 4 or more pairs of remote room speakers. Its built-in Crestron control system enables enhanced control and integration capability for AV and home automation.

The AMS features the signature Adanto integrated architecture including built-in tuners, amplifier, multi-room processors, Crestron 2-Series control system, e-Control web browser, Ethernet connectivity and front panel control. The AMS-AIP adds professional-quality video scaling up to 1080p and on-screen display. The AMS offers the same plug-and-play connectivity and out-of-the-box functionality that makes Adanto the easiest home entertainment system to install and the most versatile to expand.

Crestron will also be giving visitors to its stand an exclusive UK preview of the new CEN-TIA telephone interface. The CEN-TIA provides a versatile telephone audio and control interface packed with useful features for home automation, multiroom audio distribution, and numerous other control system applications.

The CEN-TIA connects directly to a standard phone line, or to a phone system's analog extension port to provide a speakerphone interface for any touchpanel with built-in microphone and speakers. Homeowners can see who's calling before they answer by displaying Caller ID information on every touchpanel and manage missed calls easily with complete caller information and management options displayed on the touchpanel screen.

The CEN-TIA adds telephone paging capability to any Crestron Home(r) audio distribution system, allowing sophisticated zone-paging from any telephone to room speakers throughout the house. Two-way intercom is also supported between the telephone and any microphone-equipped touchpanel or door station. Use a mobile phone to remotely turn on lights, adjust air conditioning, and arm/disarm security. Using standard DTMF touch-tones, the CEN-TIA enables telephone keypad control of any automation system function, providing a prompt-driven user-interface that's simple to use. The Menu Builder software tool makes it easy to set up a menu of friendly voice commands using the preloaded voice prompts, or custom audio files, for personalised remote control of home or office. The CEN-TIA can also dial out to a mobile phone to alert homeowners to an alarm condition or other system event in the home.
