D-Link announces support for IEEE 802.11N Draft 2.0 by software upgrade (27/4/2007)

All D-Link Wireless N products on the market are 802.11n ready

D-Link, the end-to-end networking solutions provider for consumers and business, today announces the support of the IEEE 802.11n draft version 2.0 specifications by future firmware or driver update.

Version 2.0 of the 802.11n specification has been approved by the IEEE Working Group, moving the increasingly important new wireless technology a step closer to its standardization which is anticipated in early 2008.

The draft 2.0 approval guarantees that no further hardware changes will be required for the approval of the final standard. This means all D-Link's products sold to date can be upgraded to the final standard via software upgrades.

Currently all of the D-Link Wireless N routers and clients are compliant with the 802.11n draft version 1.0 specification, and following the recent draft 2.0 approval, D-Link will aim to provide firmware upgrades in the near future to upgrade all products sold to date.

"Since launching our Wireless N range in Europe, we have won over 40 independent reviews and awards - a tremendous recognition for the quality of our products" explains Minthia von Wiarda, European Marketing Manager D-Link Europe. "We are confident this new technology will take wireless networking to another level and D-Link's Wireless N range will offer customers the best wireless performance, reliability, and value for money - combined with easy intuitive installation and a reassuring 11 years warranty."
