A selection of the CES Best of Innovations from product honourees of 2007 will be showcased at the upcoming Hometech trade show in May, announced the organizer, Messe Frankfurt.

The prestigious Best of Innovations Award, a Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) initiative since 1989, is presented to the most highly honoured products in all facets of the consumer technology industry.

CEA will sponsor the 2007 edition of Hometech and co-produce an International CES pavilion at the event, featuring key consumer electronics exhibitors and a selection of Best of Innovations awarded products.

The selection will include products across diverse categories, from enabling technologies, portable power, and integrated home entertainment systems to personal electronics, wireless communications and peripherals.

Visitors at the show, that runs from May 13-15, at the Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre in Dubai, will have the occasion to see, feel and test the Best of Innovations from 2007.

TAVI 030 from New Media Life is the world's first and smallest portable wireless IPTV and Podcasting device.

UTV Player from Ubicod is a convergence STB that facilitates in one application the management of all formats of multimedia files using home networking.

The Power Stick from Ecosol is designed for all portable electronic devices, thus eliminating the need for transformers and wires.

The Best of Innovations Award has been formerly granted to: Parthenon Blu-ray disc, HD-DVD dual format player, HDTV DVD player, Microsoft Xbox, Digital Video Recorder (DVR), HDTV, and DVD, to name only few of the awarded products of the past decade, that are today omnipresent and indispensable.

"This is just an example of the opportunities the partnership with CEA creates for the Hometech event", commented Chris Hudson COO, Messe Frankfurt. And he believes the profile of the event will increase further through the reputable name of the International CES".

As part of the growing partnership with Messe Frankfurt, the event will be branded as the International CES/Hometech in 2008. "We are excited for this unique opportunity to expand the scope of the International CES" said Gary Shapiro, President of CEA.

"The Middle East has become increasingly important to the global consumer electronics marketplace, and an event such as the International CES/Hometech will further establish Middle East as a global hot spot for consumer technology", added Shapiro.

CEA also will co-produce conference sessions at Hometech, during May 14th and 15th, featuring leading consumer electronics experts, and will host an international delegation with the role to assist and educate U.S. companies and media organizations on the growing Middle Eastern consumer technology market.
