News Solwise Announces New HomePlug AV Powerline Communications Products for UK Market (2/4/2007) New Products Based on Global 200Mbps HomePlug AV Standard Support Triple-play and High Definition, Multimedia Home Entertainment Applications Solwise LTD and Intellon Corporation today announced the Solwise HomePlug Ethernet Adaptor with Intellon's INT6000 high-speed powerline chipset targeted for residential users. Solwise is one of the largest UK distributors of the revolutionary Networking HomePlug products that use the existing main wiring in a building to carry network signals between rooms. With transfer rates of 200Mbps, Ethernet HomePlug AV can easily support full multimedia home networking throughout the whole house, including simultaneous high definition (HD) and standard definition (SD) video distribution, whole-house audio, voice-over-IP and high speed Internet, in addition to data networking. It uses the main wiring already installed in a home as a path to transmit digital data, voice, audio and video between devices without the need for additional wiring. Solwise Managing Director Paul Stephenson commented, "Compared to wireless hardware residential users, our HomePlug end users require less technical support and have a much higher customer satisfaction rate due to the simple plug-and-play nature of this technology. The thing about HomePlug is that it just works!" Enhanced quality of service (QOS) also provides the guaranteed bandwidth reservations for multimedia payloads including television-over-IP (IPTV), higher data rate broadband sharing, online gaming, VoIP calls, wireless LAN extension coverage, audio-video transmission across the network, as well as network camera connectivity. It comes with a 128-bit AES encryption to ensure that network communications are free from eavesdroppers and hackers. The auto MDI/MDIX functionality of the Solwise HomePlug AV also simplifies and ensures a hassle free installation. "HomePlug AV has the bandwidth and robustness to deliver multiple streams of rich entertainment along with other digital traffic," said Bill Casby, vice president of sales for Intellon. "This is why leading equipment manufacturers such as Solwise are using Intellon's HomePlug AV ICs as the whole-house networking solution for multi-media entertainment and high definition IPTV rollouts."
