News Arcam Announces DiVA AVR280 7.1 Home Cinema Receiver (21/2/2007) Built for movies & tuned for music - fully specified for custom install Arcam Home Cinema products have received global acclaim for their sound quality, as they successfully bridge the gap between the requirements of stereo music and those of multi-channel movies, delivering a perfect balance between performance and features. As competitors pile on the features at the expense of sound quality, Arcam is increasingly the only choice for those who want to enjoy movies AND music. Building on this success, Arcam introduces the new DiVA AVR280, the companyÕs highest performing entry-level receiver to date. Many elements are derived from development work on the £3750.00 Arcam FMJ AV9. - the best ever entry-level receiver from Arcam,
delivering real audiophile sound quality for movies and music The AVR280 delivers marked improvements in sound quality over its predecessors and over competing price class receivers. A huge toroidal transformer improves bass timing and control, Arcam's proprietary 'Mask of Silence' technologies improve the top-end clarity and new op amps improve the midrange. Arcam has been a front runner in the adoption of the HDMI interface standard and the AVR280 adopts two-way 1080p HDMI switching with automatic selection of digital video source, adding this feature without compromising the audio or analogue video quality. Audio performance is outstanding with digital or analogue inputs presenting an immersive listening experience from any source. The pre-amp stage features ultra high performance Burr Brown OP2134 op amps in circuits taken from the companyÕs range topping AVP700 pre-amp / processor. In addition, much use has been made of ArcamÕs 'Mask of Silence' technologies including the Stealth Mat used in Arcam's high-end FMJ components. Embracing a full complement of decoding standards the AVR280 processes Dolby Digital EX, DTS ES, DTS24/96 and the very latest Dolby Pro Logic IIx algorithms. All component/RGB video switching is HDTV compatible and analogue video stages include up-conversion from composite or s-video to component or RGB to minimize the number of cable runs to a display. Featuring ultra-low distortion power-amps, the AVR280 drives seven 8 ohm speakers simultaneously, with a continuous 80wpc. A direct signal path for stereo and 7.1 multi-channel analogue inputs are included. In addition two-way RS232 and IR control are built in, allowing future system software updates. Retail availability - Feb 2007. Cost £1200.00
