Lyngdorf Audio makes RoomPerfect available to all (12/2/2007)

Danish digital audio specialist Lyngdorf Audio is proud to unveil two new products incorporating the company's innovative and highly acclaimed RoomPerfect(TM) room correction technology.

As of March RoomPerfect(TM) will be available in

a) the DPA-1, a digital pre-amplifier that will control and drive any power amplifier.

b) the RP-1 'Black Box', a standalone room processor that can be inserted in any conventional pre-/power amplifier set up, or via a tape loop on an integrated amplifier.

In 2006 Lyngdorf Audio launched its revolutionary RoomPerfect(TM) technology as a fullyintegrated option within the TDA 2200 integrated amplifier.

RoomPerfect(TM) is a room audio correction system that effectively removes the room from the 'good sound' equation and thus allows the listener access to the real sound of his audio system. We firmly believe it represents the current state-of-the-art.

"What has really amazed users is that a system this sophisticated is so dazzlingly simple to use. You don't need to know anything about acoustics or computers to get full benefit from RoomPerfect(TM)", says CMO Michael Nielsen, "And until now the opportunity for 'removing the room' was reserved for customers willing to exchange their current amplification with a Lyngdorf Audio amplifier."

Well, not anymore!

DPA-1 Digital Pre-Amplifier

The DPA-1 is a true digital pre-amplifier with full RoomPerfect(TM) functionality incorporated. That means that, in addition to global correction which improves the sound in the entire room, users can also pick from up to 8 presets that optimize the sound at 8 different preferred listening positions in the room.

In the digital domain the company has added sophisticated filtering and ensured true galvanic separation of each single input. In that way the ground planes for the digital and analog domains are completely separated and sound-deteriorating ground loops are eliminated.

Though it is a true digital product users can still connect analog sources as the DPA-1 comes, as standard, with a state-of-the-art built-in A/D converter.

Whether you use the single-ended or balanced inputs provided, the signal is immediately converted to a balanced signal. Input selection, meanwhile, is carried out via high-end, double gold-plated relays, normally only encountered in expensive high-precision measuring equipment.

All the signal paths of the DPA-1 are individually impedance-compensated (using transmission-line principles) ensuring better noise immunity, while optimum impedance matching is maintained in order to preserve the original signal shape.

In truth, the DPA-1 is much more than just a pre-amplifier Ð it is a complete digital signal processing control center that allows users to configure it as an active crossover for 2.0, 2.1 and 2+2 loudspeaker solutions.

Remarkably, the menus necessary to do this are all directly accessible on the product itself Ð settings for level, delay, routing, crossover topology, slope and frequency are all easily user-adjustable without the aid of a PC.

The outputs in the analog domain are single-ended and fully balanced while signals in the digital domain are available via S/PDIF outputs.

The DPA-1 will be available in silver and black. Availability: March 2007.

RP-1 Room Processor

We call it our little 'Black Box' but there's nothing mysterious about what the RP-1 does. This is the simplest way of removing room-generated anomalies and the fastest way to improve the sonic performance of your existing audio system.

You connect it between your pre- and power amplifier, set the input sensitivity and make the RoomPerfect(TM) calibrationÉ easily done in less than 1/2 hour! That's it!

And bear in mind that we are not just talking 'tweaking' here. This device removes the single, most influential potential obstacle in the quest to achieve the best possible soundÉ the room itself.

In essence, the 'Black Box' will improve sound reproduction in any audio system, from basic to very high-end set-ups.

Since RP-1 features analog interfaces and RoomPerfect(TM) works entirely in the digital domain we have taken some quite dramatic steps in order to maintain signal quality at an extremely high level.

All analog-to-digital signal conversion is handled via the same converter that we employ in the flagship Millennium ADC. When it comes to D/A conversion, at the output stage we have used the converter from top of the range Millennium Mk IV amplifier. Truly highend thinking!

As with the DPA-1 we decided that the advanced user should still have the option of creating 2.0, 2.1 and 2+2 loudspeaker solutions. So the RP-1 is much more than a room processor Ð it is a complete digital signal processing control center that allows you to create speaker configurations ranging from simple bi-amped arrangements to advanced active speaker systems and/or 2+2 systems i.e. incorporating Lyngdorf Audio boundary woofers.

However, we have kept operation simple by making all the menus necessary for configuring these advanced set-ups directly accessible on the product. So, once again, there's no need for a PC in order to adjust level, delay, routing, crossover topology, slope and frequency.

And, to ensure maximum compatibility, the inputs/outputs can be switched between single ended or balanced.

The RP-1 'Black Box' will be available inÉ black. Availability: March 2007.
