News SpeakerCraft announces European Debut of the AIM Wide in-ceiling loudspeakers at ISE 2007 (17/1/2007) Stand J108, Integrated Systems Europe 2007 SpeakerCraft, the world leader in custom installed audio products, announces the debut of its first ceiling speaker with an ultra-wide dispersion pattern. Created with the same footprint as the award-winning AIM8 series, the AIM WIDE models share the same woofers as their popular counterparts but the similarities end there. Mounted directly above the 8" woofer is a radically different mid/tweeter module. The dual 3/4" tweeters and dual 2" midrange drivers are set at a fixed seventy degree angle to each other. This geometry creates a dramatically dispersed sound field, which is extremely desirable in certain situations. "Our original intention was to create a ceiling-mounted speaker dedicated to rear channel surround in home theatre applications" said Jeff Francisco, SpeakerCraft's V.P. of Engineering. "However, it quickly became apparent that this speaker was also perfect for multi-room audio installations where the intention is to fill a room with high quality ambient or background music. Just because a room isn't dedicated to critical listening in a fixed location or 'sweet-spot' doesn't mean people don't want great fidelity." The AIM WIDE series comprises three models. AIM Wide One is timbre-matched with all One series speakers and uses silk dome tweeters and graphite midrange drivers and woofer. AIM Wide Three is timbre-matched with all Three series speakers and uses aluminium drivers throughout. AIM Wide Five is timbre-matched with all Five series speakers and uses aluminium dome tweeters and Kevlar midrange drivers and woofer. Availability: Immediate from your local stocking distributor.
