News SpeakerCraft announces European Debut of the MDU ceiling loudspeaker at ISE 2007 (17/1/2007) Stand J108, Integrated Systems Europe 2007 SpeakerCraft, the world's leading manufacturer of custom installed loudspeakers, announces the MDU speaker. Dedicated to multi-dwelling housing units such as condos, town homes or apartments, the MDU addresses a number of challenges created by installations in these locations. Sound transference into an adjoining unit, regulations that prevent cutting into a wall or ceiling surface or the preponderance of concrete or brick in construction are reasons that make a flush-mounted speaker unworkable. The SpeakerCraft MDU speaker is an elegant and functional solution that provides the possibility of great sound reproduction in these situations. Its modern oval-shaped ported cabinet houses a 4" graphite woofer and a 1" silk dome tweeter that deliver a smooth and open sonic presentation. The speaker is mounted to the ceiling via a standard J-box or attached directly to the ceiling joist. The multi-pivot bracket allows the speaker to be aimed at the listening area from any position in the room. "Dealers are doing more work in multiple dwelling units as the real estate market changes" said Dave Donald, SpeakerCraft's V.P. of Marketing.
