Stewart Filmscreen Introduces the Microperf X2 Acoustically Transparent Screen to the European Market at ISE 2007 (15/1/2007)

Stand F110, Integrated Systems Europe 2007

Stewart Filmscreen Corporation(r) (Booth F110)-the industry leader in precision projection screen technology in the home cinema and commercial markets-introduced Microperf X2, the latest version of the company's THX Ultra certified acoustically transparent screen, to the European market today.

Stewart Filmscreen first introduced Microperforated screens 10 years ago, with the primary goal being to allow audio coming from speakers located behind the screen to pass through the screen to the audience with negligible affect on audio quality. Tiny holes in Microperforated screens allow sound to flow seamlessly through to the audience. In fact, Stewart Microperforated screens were the first acoustically transparent screens to be THX Ultra Certified.

Impeccable Image Fidelity

Stewart Microperf X2 is the same Microperforation pattern that Stewart has been using for the last 10 years, with slight adjustments to completely eliminate the moirŽ. Stewart Microperf X2 screens are superior in image quality in AB comparisons to run-of-the-mill woven screens, with up to 70% more brightness, higher resolution, and superior color saturation. Additionally, viewers sitting at the appropriate viewing distance from the screen can not see the Microperf pattern, while woven screen material suffers from a soft, lower resolution appearance due to its fabric construction, which causes cross reflection within the screen fabric. Woven screens suffer from "light blow-through return"; because these types of screens are so porous, light from the projector bounces off surfaces behind the screen and reflects back onto the screen, washing out the image.

Unbeatable Audio Quality

In third-party tested AB comparisons of Stewart Microperf X2 and common woven screens, Stewart scored significantly better in audio performance. The results of these AB comparisons can be found in the white paper "Defining the Difference in Perforated Screens" by Alan Brawn, which can be found at www.stewartfilmscreen.com.

Stewart Microperf X2 acoustically transparent screens are also the largest seamless acoustically transparent screens on the market, and are available in all of Stewart's screen materials, including the new Firehawk 1080p G3 high-definition screen material, also on display at ISE Europe 2007.
