New Home Theater Scaler from Gefen Offers Converting, Switching and High Definition Scaling in One Solution (2/1/2007)

Stand O60, Integrated Systems Europe 2007

Gefen' s new Home Theater Scaler is a one-stop solution supplying support for todayŐs home theater systems, bringing together component and HDMI video sources, analog and digital audio, high definition image scaling and source switching.

Designed to enable the easy connection of multiple audio/video sources with different interfaces to any HDMI display, the plug and play solution supports two component video inputs, each with its own analog audio input and two HDMI inputs, each with its own optical TOSlink and S/PDIF input. All input video can be scaled up and down, and output in HDMI format with two audio outputs in TOSlink and S/PDIF. High definition imagery from both component and HDMI sources can be tweaked for color, sharpness, contrast and balance while resolutions can be scaled down to 480i and up to 1080p.

Users can opt to use one or more of the video inputs; the unit will scale and deliver the source that is selected using the unitŐs IR remote - essentially performing source switching in addition to scaling capabilities. Sources are switched in mere seconds.

HDMI audio that accompanies the video is output in the embedded HDMI signal being sent to the display or projector, with mirrored audio through the TOSlink and S/PDIF connectors.

If the analog audio inputs are utilized, the audio is digitized and output in both embedded HDMI format and the digital audio signals.
