CodexNovus Brings Home Theater to the Whole Family (22/12/2006)

Stand F110, Integrated Systems Europe 2007

Revolutionary HDcodex Interface Makes Home Media Technology Easy to Use, Removes "Intimidation Factor"

CodexNovus, the leader in stand-alone and networked media server products, has introduced a new family of products designed to make home theater easy. The new line includes three Digital Media Libraries, named the DML 200, DML 1000, and the DML 1600, as well as the DV-1 Digital Media Reader.

No more hunting through bulky and cluttering DVD and CD cases! No more tripping over boxes on the floor or worrying about alphabetizing your CDs! The DML series of digital media libraries make it all so easy. The three digital libraries feature different levels of storage, with the DML 1600, the top-of-the-line, sporting 1.6 terabytes of memory. While storage capacity varies by model, each of the media libraries allow the media lover to access an entire collection of movies, music, and other media at the touch of a button. Each of these products supports the highest resolution imagery currently on the market, as well as sophisticated 5.1 and even 7.1 audio.

About the HDcodex User Interface

At the heart of the product series is a revolutionary user interface called HDcodex. Where legacy media devices generally relied on computers, mice, and other external control devices, HDcodex is entirely self-contained within CodexNovus equipment. Because the system doesn't require computer literacy or additional equipment, CodexNovus has eliminated the intimidation factor too often associated with custom electronics, made the system much easier to use, and allowed everyone in the family to enjoy an authentic home theater experience.

"Our objective was to liberate home theater from the techno-lovers and bring it to the whole family," said Hugo Fuegen, president of CodexNovus, Inc. "Thanks to HDcodex, our line of digital media servers and the DV-1 Media Player are the most user-friendly media storage and playback devices on the market."

HDcodex allows users to find their favorite media quickly, with all source information and metadata easily accessible. The system is ISF-certified and incorporates All Media Guide's (AMG) LASSO media recognition system. All HDCodex products can be totally remote-control driven, using the infrared remote control included, or by RS-232, the standard protocol for universal remote control technology.

About the Digital Media Libraries

All three models support all commonly used digital media formats, in SD and HD formats, at resolutions up to 1920 x 1080p. High-resolution audio is delivered in multi-channel 5.1, and 7.1 formats - all in a self-contained platform designed for unparalleled ease of use.

CodexNovus DMLs offer matchless flexibility and configuration options and supports MPEG, AVI, TS, VC-1, MP2, MP3, AC3, WAV, AAC, HTML, SWF, BMP, PNG, TIFF, GIF and JPEG media files.

The DML servers are available from authorized dealers nationwide. The DML 200 sells for an MSRP of $3,499 and is an ideal starter solution. The DML 1000 is the next upgrade and sells for an MSRP of $4,999 while the DML 1600, the flagship server with 1.6 terabytes of storage capacity - perfect for the hardcore media fan - sells for an MSRP of $6999.

About the DV-1 Digital Media Reader

The DV-1 Digital Media Reader provides the fastest rip times available on the consumer market. It can rip music CDs in less than five minutes and typical full-length feature films on DVD format in about 20 minutes.

The DV-1 Digital Media Reader is among the most affordable full-spectrum digital media players on the market, with an MSRP of just $795.
